I am currently looking at the Samsung UN50HU6950 50" for the bedroom. My budget is under $1000.00 and found this one but is there something recommended that is better for streaming movies/Netflix/Amazon? I am hanging on to my Panisonic 65" V10 Plasma for the living room so thought I would try out my first 4k for under a grand to personally experience the 4k before I drop buku on a big screen.Any other suggestions?

Personally I wouldn't buy one until they support HDMI 2.0...which I haven't seen on any model yet.

My Vizio supports both hdmi 2.0, and hdcp 2.2. I think the 55 is on your price range. It's the Vizio P series.

Specs I need are as follows 1)50" 4k tv 2)Under $1000.00  .This is going in a bedroom.Room mate is switching to Direct tv and I am glad I went to the site.Did not believe it but to view any 4k content with Direct TV(on their site) you must have a 2014 Samsung 4k tv!For my price point and budget I had it narrowed down to the Sammy 6950 and the Vizio P502ui-B1.....not the B1E.Looks like I have to go with the 6950.

Personally, my experience in television sales is that you really are paying for the quality of the set over the Frankenstein brands such as Vizio.  Now I have not been in the game for quite some time, but when you lined a Vizio up next to a Samsung or a Sony, the difference was night and day and for that I am very particular about what I want and what I look for in a TV.  Maybe this has changed over the last couple of years?

Vizio and a couple of other brands used to buy out parts from other manufacturers and throw together a TV set, but I do not believe that they are run this way anymore as you can definitely see the image quality is better.

They is the black and darks on the TV set, the lower quality TV's do not show the black contrasting; they show just black.  The higher quality TV's will show you the extra definition in the darks.  Like a black suit for example, you will see every single ruffle or wrinkle on that high quality TV where you will just see a black suit on the lower quality.  - Just some food for thought!!

It might be hard to find a 4k TV under 55 inches with a top tier display brand name on it.

I am a home theater enthusiast and a pc novice...and I think as you do.Reason I went with the Pani v10 in 2010 was for the " true blacks"and my buddies big screen Lcd's couldn't come close to my Pani. With my introduction to 4k,I wanted to get an entry level under $1000.00 for my bedroom and get to know my likes and dislikes concerning the new tech and "true" support for the Hdmi 2.0.I just could not purchase a Vizio P series B1($799.99)....so I opted for the SamsungUN50OHU6950($999.99)from Best Buy.I am really concerned with black levels on the Sammi which is why I choose a brick&mortor just in case I return her. This 50" is all I could fit(and afford) in my temporary "hovel" of a bedroom(going through divorce). Will post back after I setup/tinker and try to find some 4k content and see what she can do!Thank you all for your input.

Don't laugh....it took everything for me not to lose it when my sales guy at Best Buy told me my new Samsung supported Hdmi 1.8 and I really needed to buy the ultra expensive "Monster Cable" brand 1.8 cable from him to truly get the best 4k picture.

Nothing is actually cerified past HDMI 1.4. After that, its all about how much silver they tin the OFC wire with to keep down corossion. Even then, it doesn't really matter till you get into really long runs, like 30FT+

Ran a 1.4 from my Sony BDP-S3200 Blu Ray,and popped in ROME.I have to say I am impressed with the clarity and overall look, and am having fun tinkering with color/contrast etc.Trying to find the sweet spot for an extremely dark dungeon of a bedroom.Have a "so called" better upscaling Samsung BR Player coming tomorrow and want to see if it is all that compared to my old Sony BR. Got off track, and I do remember everyone claiming their cables were "1080p certified" ...a big fat lie,I just looked for the Cat 2 cables myself.Look at the lies they are claiming their 4k panels refresh at....all of it...970 cards, hdmi cables which are all about the same(with/without ethernet)....4k displays...lies and half truths. You have to be careful and do your homework before dropping your hard earned duckies on anything that has a current .

LG you should consider as well. We just got a new 4k LG 65UB9300 and it is awesome. We was going to get the Vizio. I just did not feel comfortable going with them. Our previous tv was a LG 55LE7300 just a little over 4 years old. Zero problems with it. We ended up keeping it and moving it into a bedroom. Sony, Samsung and LG would be my top picks in no particular order.

All the negative talk about vizio shows a big lack of understanding of the current market place. Vizio has outpaced samsung as America's number one selling brand. Not only that, but you should read up on Vizio, they are a california based engineering and manufacturing firm. The are America's only current home grown television brand and have come a very long way from 10 years ago. Think about Hyundai and Kia 10-15 years ago vs. today. The black levels on my tv are phenomenal due to the independant LED zones allowing for only the necessary backlight LED's banks to turn on to add brightness to the appropriate areas of the screen.

I personally have never owned a Vizio ,I am an avid Panasonic plasma man that felt the need to get with the times concerning 4k displays.I saw many good reviews concerning their B1 50" display but Direct tv has yet to support them so I felt a little pushed into a Samsung.I think much of the time people have a Ford vs. Chevy mentality and people often associate Vizio with Walmart...and think low end quality.I researched and my two choices came down to the Vizio B1 or the Sammi 6950,Sammi won thanks to DTV.
