I have been eyeing the POTM for those cruncher fellas over there: Crunching@EVGA : where they select the cruncher of the month and the cruncher gets to pick out the Project of the Month...

What would all of you think if we picked an EVGAFTW Folder once a month to pick a small token of appreciation for doing something awesome with their hardware?  The users would pick the person, that would NOT be based on points or anything.  We could easily make it based on participation throughout the entire forum and folding for the month together (would require displaying that you fold for EVGA, of course).

I have been considering a choice pick from the accessories section, maybe an entry level GPU, some Swagalishish gear..

I have also considered getting some shirts made, for distribution (gift only, no money accepted) to the winners.  I would have to take the time to figure out what would be the best and see what you guys think, so give me your thoughts.  If I need to put together a strawpoll or something like that, let me know what you think.  This will be ever so slightly delayed, as I will be moving in a few weeks :-D

feed me input, please.

P.S.  117... so close to the double digits!!!!!!  That will also go on delay soon.  I am at almost 15m points this month, for the first time ever.

For the purpose of this post !'ve seen nothing in your profile to suggest that you, Scarlet-Tech, work for 3vG^ so !'ll assume that you don't and you're just a generous and dedicated folder.

In the short time that !'ve been on this forum !'ve seen a number of exceptionally generous individuals on this forum supplying freebies and prizes to fellow folders apparently out of their own pockets.

The reason we're really doing this is for the greater good, but you know, we're doing it on behalf of/in the name of 3vG^ (sing it: dada-da-da....folding in the name of....dada-da-da) so it would be nice if they (3vG^) could do a little more with regard to prizes/freebies for actual folding competitions/challenges, so far !'ve only seen one such event, the Time-Zone Challenge so it's not like it would be a big financial outlay for a large company like 3vG^ to occasionally supply some swag/loot for such an event.

    DEV,

First, I have a really hard time reading your posts with the 1337 talk.

Second, what site are you using to set up the designs? I will be running a few drafts in the near future.

Jeez sorry people, thought i was doing well limiting my leet speak to just:
    ! (I) and 3vG^ (EVGA). Seems not.  :(

Second, what site are you using to set up the designs? I will be running a few drafts in the near future.

I didn't use a web service to create the images, ! made them @ home with GIMP and posted them on my Photobucket account.

And yeah, it's great idea Scarlet-Tech, if you can afford to do that out of your own pocket.

I've seen your generosity and that of numerous others in these forums and I think it's great, having said that I would love to know the total cost of these selfless contributions by individuals on these forums over the past 7yrs relative to that of 3vG^ (EVGA). I'm not criticizing any body or 3vG^, it's just something I have to wonder about.

Yeah thanx EVGA! ("thanks" - oh that's another - a total of 3 words)

My personal contribution to the betterment of scociety/humanity in the past 11yrs:
    $20 p/mth(to The Wilderness Scociety) + $25 p/mth(to The Cancer Council) x 12 months p/yr x 11 years =
    $5940 out of my pocket

3 years of unpaid volunteer work at local Oasis Youth Center:
    @ $19p/hr of time X 5hrs p/day X 2days p/wk X 48wks p/yr X 3 years =
    $27,360 worth of my time

As well as giving 2 Individuals A place to live + Food in their stomach + Electricity to use X 6mths each
(I'm not even going to waste my time calculating that)

    $5940 + $27,360 = $33,300+ over the past 11 years

I'm just one man earning minimum wage living in a country w/One of the highest rates of cost of living in the developed world (much higher than the US or UK).

--- Come to Australia and see how expensive it is just to keep a roof over your head, food in your stomach, fuel in your car let alone the cost of access to the internet in terms of gB per Dollar and the cost of electricity, on top of that as a result of the incompitence of sucessive gorvenments over the decades the retirement age has been pushed back to 70yrs of age and if you try to retire earlier or access your retirement funds earlier the government will take a massive chunk (over 30%) of your Superannuation (401k for those of you in the US) ---

Now this thread has gotten completely off topic we're supposed to be feeding Scarlet-Tech ideas.(unless you've all been PM-ing ideas)

Your more than welcome here along with everyone else. It has nothing to do with what you are saying I think it is more a shock to the system seeing people type like that anymore. I thought 1337 speak had mostly died a decade ago. But hey, to each their own, if it makes you happy carry on

D3V!rum3tM^ch!n^  are you saying that EVGA is not doing enough?
For one they do not have to do anything as Folding as nothing to do with EVGA to begin with.
EVGA is supporting our team all on their own, I for one do not Fold for Bucks'.
Is 100% more then any other company that I know of.

What is it that you think EVGA's responsibility is for Folders that Fold under the Team Name: folding@evga ?

Everything we do under Crunching@EVGA is done by Team Members and Only Team Members.
I could also say the same about Mining@EVGA all effort is done by the Team Members.

    bill1024
I think EVGA goes above and beyond being generous. I would not ask for anything more from them.
There are 563 active folders on the team now.
If only 20% are buck folders (I bet it is more than 20%) that's 112 folders.
I would not doubt up to 50% or even more buck fold.
That's 13,500$ a year. Way more than any other company gives out.
Over the 7 years doing the program is 94,500$
Plus they give us this web site to use, forum for chat, a help section, a for sale section where we can sell used hardware.

    Thank you EVGA!
