"Improve PCI-E Compatibility." does this maybe, possibly include soundcards?

No joy on the soundcard, oh well.
Loaded optimized defaults saved and exited, updated bios in windows, it restarted, went back in bios and enabled xmp profile 1 for my 2400 GSkill, restarted, now Aida64 says I have a 15% overclock on my cpu. The multiplier on my 5820 is 38. The cpu frequency is set to automatic, it should be 33 still right? Or is the xmp profile setting doing what it was supposed to do now, because I had it enabled on 1.12 and the multiplier wasn't overclocked.

For the soundcard can you try forcing the slot to PCI-E Gen1 mode.

Yes, I tried that, the only thing that works is putting it to sleep. With the xonar card there's audible double click when the card is initialized on startup, when it comes out of sleep the card makes those clicks again and it works. I don't know why this has to happen twice, but it does. What about the other thing? Should choosing an xmp profile overclock the cpu?

If you have two bios, flip that switch... :-) keep the stable one saved. Or, save the profile to a thumb drive.

I should have, because with the new BIOS nothing goes as high, for my system this latest has taken me more backwards than the latest video drivers. It's no faster now overclocked than it was stock in Fire Strike and OC'ing the CPU doesn't go beyond 4.4GHz now...

I have to head out of town but will start gain when I get back...

I've been using this BIOS for a few days now (went from 1.12 to 1.13) and I have had zero issues. OC is just as stable as before (granted, it's just 4.2 GHz with 1.3v).

This is on an X99 Micro.

EDIT: still no issues as of 01/11/15. :)
