Hello guys,

I have 2x EVGA GTX980 SC cards.

First time i ran my first card, it was freezing all the time. The weekend went fint, but then it started again. It turned out to mostly down to a failed SSD.

The ssd was replaced, reintalled, and all was fine. Then i got my second 980, and i did a straight swap, to test card in single mode. First boot, it freezed up on boot, just on windows entry.

Since then it seemed fine, did some benching and stuffed my first bought card in second slot, and put them in SLi.

Since then, i have had 2 freeze ups. One was unprovoed while only watching a stream in chrome browser. The second one came during a wake from sleep mode.

I will be getting blocks for them next week, and i would like to know if anyone else has had issues similar to this before i rebuild my whole water loop.

Specs:
MSI X99s Sli Plus
5930K
16gb Crucial 2133mhz CL15
Evo 120gb SSD
Lepa 1700M psu
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

NOTHING is overclocked!

I havnt been able to force this error, but its pretty annoying. I havnt been able to do much testing.

Did you just build this rig? Here is what I would suggest...

#1 Make sure you're running the latest motherboard BIOS.

#2 Make sure your SSD is running the latest firmware.

#3 Make sure your RAM is running at the correct frequency, timings & voltage. The frequency, timings & voltage set inside the BIOS should match the JEDEC stickers on the sides of your RAM modules.

#4 Check your ram individually with memtest86+

#5 Inspect CPU socket for bent pins if your computer continues to freeze. Put in a lower end video card to see if the system continues to freeze.

Rig was not just built, had 2x 7970 before this without issues.

Bios is 1.5, SSD is up to date, ram is running correct XMP.

This happend after the 980's came along.

Have you tried all the different driver revisions for the 980 to see if they all produce the same freeze? If not, it's time to test them all one by one, 344.11 through 347.25.
