My 580 died some time last week - nothing wrong with the card's performance as it ate through everything I threw at it but it artifacted and alas had to be RMA'd.

Received from RMA a GTX760, which for all intents and purposes based on reviews works similarly to my 580 except it's much louder than my 580 and I can't max out certain games as I did before (the crew being  one of them).

While I understand a 760 is supposed to be similar in performance, it's a disappointment compared to my previous card. Not particularly happy when the RMA process defines the replacement of equal or better performance with the replacement I received being of lesser performance on the newest drivers released by NVidia.

    Hello Holo,

I do apologize for any confusion however we can confirm that you did receive a unit of equal and/or greater performance. The GTX 760 model is superior to the GTX 580.

If you wish to further discuss your RMA, please feel free to contact me direct and I can assist you further with any additional questions you may have to clarify.

    Best Regards,

    Best Regards,

I disagree and would take a 580 over a 760 any day of the week. That said, the card works, although not to my satisfaction, and so I won't pursue it any further. The RMA process itself did go smoothly and card did arrive in a timely fashion.

In your shoes I'd feel lucky too but the card doesn't perform as well as my 580 did, is louder(not sure how....) and performs worse in games I play. Never had to RMA a product in my life with EVGA, so the RMA went smooth, I am just unhappy with the end result.

They meant equal or greater performance "on paper"... not in real life circumstances.  If I had a gpu that ran an game maxed and got a new gpu that clearly doesn't perform the same, I'd be disappointed too.  Not to take anything away from the 760...  It's a great card.

I agree with you. I PM'd Jayson, so we'll see what he says. But yeah on paper many things are "better" not so much my experience with certain products. But I will let Jayson get back to me to see what he says.

If that was an option I'd be okay with it.

I bought an EVGA GTX 670 FTW from a friend in US and it started showing artifacts. The card was originally purchased from Newegg. I'm in India so I mailed  asking where should I send/contact for support - the US or Asia support. They gave me a link of asia guest RMA but unable to initiate since it says "You are not allowed to enter Guest RMA because your region is not APAC'. Fair enough since India doesn't come under APAC.

Please suggest what to do next. I've the original invoice as well.

Soo, why not sell the 760 and buy a used 580 if you feel such a loss in performance?
