I have 2 of 580s on SLI. I think one of the card is dying. When I'm doing stuff on Windows the screen frequently freezes or turns dark then I get "display driver not responding and successfully recovered." I never OC'd my cards. Updated the driver and tried few stuff that I researched on google but nothing helped so far. It's very annoying because it happenes like every 5min. From what I know GTX 580 is discontinued so if i send it in for a RMA what would I be getting back as replacement? Will EVGA replace both of my cards since I'm running them on SLI?

What are your full system specs? What all have you tried to correct the problem?

Does the issue go away when disabling SLI?

Yes, it's possible the card is defective. Test the card in another PC to verify.

In general, the official line for an RMA is "same product, or 'performance equivalent'". What you get back will depend on what's in stock at the time EVGA gets your card if you're doing a Standard RMA, or when EVGA's ready to ship when doing a Cross-ship. If 580's are in stock, then you'll get a 580 of the same type or better than the one you currently have. If there are no 580's that fit the description, then you'll get a card that performs at least as well as a GTX 580. There are many cards that fit that description, so, again, it will depend on stock at the time of the RMA. If you get a card back that isn't a 580, then you'll want to contact EVGA to see if EVGA can replace your other 580 so you can keep your SLI.

They will replace them if they are both EVGA cards and are both registered and under warranty. I had SLI 260 cards back in the day and one went screwy they replaced it and then replaced the second one to keep my SLI, BUT you do have to contact them if they replace the defective card with a different/newer card. Luckily my 260 cards had lifetime warranty, and so do the new cards they replaced them with. If I need replacement again the new cards will carry forward the original cards' warranty which is the Best Warranty in the industry, IMO.

You will likely get 580 back. I just got my rma for a 580 and it was another 580.

I've seen both happen. It just depends on EVGA's inventory at the time of RMA.

Ya I seen it happen before too with an 8800gt upgraded to a gts but not this time... Least the new card is still covered with lifetime warranty. Ill probably be using this one for a long time since I stopped gaming 3 years ago and only thing I like from the 900 series is the h265. NordicJedi
