Hello Evga support,

I purchased the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 SC (Model 04G-2983-KR) recently and finally got got the rest of my water cooling parts so have finally begun to fit everything in the case. I noticed, however, that my card's cooling unit seems to have an uneven gap towards the back. It's almost as though it was not attached properly at the rear. I've attached a pic so you can see it. When I gently press my index finger the PCB board and my thumb on the outer shell of the ACX cooling unit, it is very firm though I can push it enough to kind of correct the gap.

I'd really rather not RMA this but my NewEgg 30 day replacement period will run out 1/31 so I need to decide and act quickly. My instinct is to quickly wrap up the build and get this system booted up and see if my temps are within proper tolerances, but I am still nervous since my Newegg RMA window is closing.

If necessary, I'd also be willing to open a ticket or speak to EVGA directly. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

I have two of those cards and neither have the gap that your has. If I were in your shoes I'd return it for the "NewEgg 30 day replacement". However, some one from EVGA will probably see your post and give you the best advise.

Th ACX cooler is only attached with 4 screws total. If it is sagging, it may be best to RMA it, or put a backplate to help level the PCB itself.

There are 4 screws with Springs on them, they are the only 4 holding the cooler to the PCB. You may want to try tightening those just a tiny bit to see if it helps as well.

Thanks for the quick reply. Upon further inspection, the four screws which attach it to the PCB/GPU is situated more towards the front section look very tight (And the PCB itself looks perfectly straight) . It seems to be the ACX unit that has that odd "hanging gap" effect. I've gone ahead and RMA'd the unit.
