UK Advanced RMA - Shipping costs

Hello,
 
I'm in the process of RMAing my GTX 970 SC which has been giving me some black screens. I plan on using Advanced RMA to receive a replacement before I send my card back.
 
Does anyone know if we get a pre-paid return shipping label? Will I have to support the shipping costs myself?
 
I tried asking these questions myself via the support ticket but I didn't manage to get an answer.

    I don't think you do get a pre-paid shipping label, you are simply paying a deposit on the replacement card to cover the possibility of you not sending yours back.
     
    Shipping costs are ridiculous for us in the UK...I have just sent my card off for RMA and the cheapest way I found was RoyalMail standard International, this cost me £8.05 with no tracking/signed for and only £20 compensation level
     
    My card was worth a lot less than yours though so compensation level was not as high of an issue for me as it would be for you.

    Every answer I've seen says the same, that we as costumers have to support the costs of shipping, even for a product like mine that was defective since day 1. ESPECIALLY when EVGA writes in big letters in the box for us not to return to the store and deal with them directly. If I had dealt with the store in my 14 day period, I'd have a new card by now.
     
    On top of that and contrary to all the answers I've been given by EVGAs support, on the warranty site (http://eu.evga.com/support/warranty/) is stated:
    • EVGA will pay for return shipping on RMAs via EVGA’s choice of courier and shipping method.
    Can we get some EVGA Mod feedback on this? Seems like Your company is saying one thing and doing another.

    I just did that. I was told to pay the collateral and later on a pick up service would be scheduled at EVGAs expense.
    The problem with phone calls is that you don't get anything in writing and I didn't think beforehand of recording the call.
     
    I'm hoping there was no miscommunication, because it is a shame to have to support costs to replace an expensive product that should work out-of-the-box, let alone the time expended in sorting it out.

    If you have your doubts if it is indeed the card then I can assist with troubleshooting if you wish.

    Thank you for your help, I had submitted a support ticket a while ago and we got to the conclusion that it was indeed the card. My question was about the Advanced RMA process and its costs.

    Hello,
    When you are opening the RMA ticket, there will be an option to choose between Standard RMA and Advanced RMA.
    Advanced RMA means, you pay collateral and we ship the exchange part immediately to you before you send us your defective card back. You have to send your defective card back within 30 days. If you do so and the card we received from you is not voiding the warranty, the collateral will be re-transferred.
    Standard RMA means you ship out the card to us and after receiving it in our warehouse your exchange card will be shipped to you after 1-3 business days.
    The shipment costs are shared, meaning you pay the route to our warehouse in Munich, Germany and we will pay the shipping costs back to you.

    This is the reply I've got via email, contrary to the answer I was given over the phone.
    Nowhere in the warranty terms it says that the costs are shared, it clearly states that EVGA pays for return shipping. Either change the terms of warranty or honor them, they're not just some words you put online. I'm getting very displeased with this whole process, especially with having to spend time and money on something that should be working properly, and having to pay for it. EVGA recomends UPS for shipping, which would be more than 30£, with which I could have gotten a better card to start with and not have to deal with all of this.

    With it being a 970 it surely cannot be that old?. Did you at least try to get the retailer to replace it for you ?

    I've bought it less than a month ago, and in hindsight I should have just returned it to the store. But have you recently purchased a EVGA card?
     
    This is on the inside of the box, on both sides, so I thought I was doing the right thing.
    First I buy a 280£ card that doesn't work as it should, then I trust the company who makes it, stupid me right?

    I would be rather upset too if this is the case. But from what I gather EVGA are very good with support and if a rep on the phone said they will cover your shipping then I would wait to see if there is a prepaid courier label in with your replacement card.

    Hopefully it will all fall into place

We do pay for the shipping of replacement products to the customer, but if you read the clearly stated Terms of Warranty, the customer is liable for the cost of shipping to EVGA. We are sorry if you feel that we have not treated you fairly, to avoid this we do post our policies for all to read on the website.

    Can someone help me find where it says that? I really don't see it anywhere. I'm fighting a losing battle here, and getting very displeased with EVGA. I'm not sure if I'll ever buy from this company again.
    Either they clarify the terms of warranty and clearly state in them who pays for what of just honor what is written in them.

    From what I see the warranty terms does not specifically say "you must cover the shipping costs to evga yourself" but I would say it is pretty clearly inferred.

    I think you got mixed up with the paste you did a few posts back about evga covering the cost of return shipping.....they meant they will cover the return shipping for your replacement card....obviously things are the other way round when you do an advanced rma though.

    Inferred doesn't cut it when you're dealing with costumers and especially when the products you sell are this expensive. Even if I don't get the resolution I want for my case I believe EVGA should change the terms of warranty to reflect their practice and not leave it to interpretation.
     
    As far as I'm concerned, making your costumers pay for your faulty items is wrong, and other companies issue a prepaid sticker for these kinds of situations.

    I don't know of any companies that cover the shipping of products to them for RMA under normal conditions.

    Microsoft does it. My mother in law had a Surface with a faulty battery and they sent her a new surface in box with a prepaid label, she only had to drop her old tablet in the UPS drop point. (She placed her credit card number as collateral)

    Apologies, I meant companies that would have been the alternative in this case....gigabyte/Asus/palit/MSI etc etc.

    Have you actually gone through with the advanced RMA yet ?

    Yes, it's in process, my replacement is on it's way. Guess I'll have to pay for it myself and hope this new card never breaks.

    i too bought the 970 model and sent it back to germany at my expense i think it is bad management and pr if you are not reimbursed for the postage if the product was faulty. i had bought 3 of they're graphics cards and if there is no refund from them or adria where we bought them then it will be the last time i buy from them, and i shall make all my friends know also. very poor and not happy

    My shipment has just come to germany from uk - I used parcel2go with discount coupon for £ 10 (easy to google) i paid about 6 pounds. (ups drop point). I think this is the best option, RoyalMail wants almost 30 pounds :)
