Hi there,
i got the problem that bios is always missing at least one DIMM of RAM.
CPU-Z and ELEET show every DIMM placed and triple channel is working. Strange...

If i raise bclk over 177 (Voltages: CPU: auto to 1.3V   VTT:auto to 1.35:  DIMM1.5 to 1.65V  without Vdroop), the system won't boot and end up in Error cycle 00 E8 02 69. I think this is because of the missing ram.
When i left both RAM Slot 5 empty i can go easily to bclk 200 but only with 16 gb instead of 24gb ram.

What i already tried out:
All different Memory timings, straps, bclk, voltage, ... for already 3 days. (Even slowest timings won't recognize all Dimms) also tested every single Dimm (CPU1 disabled) in slot 1. Every Dimm was recognized and fully working.
Re-seating all DIMMs in a lot of variation and many times.
Looking for bent/broken Pins on Cpu. Looking for dust/dirt in RAM-Slots.
Re-mounted cpu-cooler, loosened/tightened screws on cpu-cooler.
Looking for correct distance between Mobo and case (possible short circuits)

Disabled CPU1 and tried out triple channel for CPU0 - still not working. I also put in all 6 Dimms for CPU0. Now bios only recognizes 16gb what could mean that ram slot 5 and 6 is not working.

my build:
EVGA SR2 - LATES BIOS FLASHED
2x E5645
Gigabyte Windforce GTX 760
PSU be quiet! Dark Power PRo 10 1200W
6x 4gb DDR3 1600 CL11 Crucial RAM

For me its looking like i have to RMA.
Maybe you guys have an idea to solve this problem

thanks a lot!!

Are you saying you have a "missing DIMM" issue even at stock clock speeds? This is a common issue with RAM set to more than the default 1333MHz. If you want to push bclk, you'll have to reduce the RAM multiplier accordingly to keep RAM under 1333MHz.

    Hi Gordon,

I already tried to reduce RAM multiplier - still not going. If i only have 2 Sticks in (2 on cpu0 and 2 on cpu1) it will work with 200 bclk on 1066.

Are you using an ES Xeon?
Are you using single-ranked or dual-ranked DIMMs?
Have you tried bumping VTT to 1.375V?

    i'm using 2x Xeon E5645...think these are dual-ranked Dimms...
tryied your advice by increasing VTT to 1.375. still not working...

Are they release stepping or ES Xeons?
So you have tried each of the DIMMs in each of the sockets and that arrangement works?
It is worth double-checking that your DIMMs aren't single-ranked. IIRC the SR-2 is only rated for dual-ranked DIMMs.

    Hey hi,

I have a quite similar problem, system just uses 16GB instead of my built in 24GB.
    I have 6 Modules, 2x4GB and 4x4GB, a dual-channel and a quad channel kit.
Means the Dual channel kit is just single-ranked-> can't be used in the SR2?

    Thx

I am having the exact same problem 24gb (of kingston hyperx) ram being recognized as 20gb. Running at 1333, OC to 3.5gz with Xeon 5650 set. No change with bios reset and totally stock settings, or any other change i have tried. The problem seems to be slot #5 (ie the last slot of processor) CPU#1 >this is the slot right by the edge of the board. I have the A2 revision of this mobo, bought midway through 2012. I am able to run 16gb with 2 2x4 in the red slots however, which is still very usable though! Only on the biggest render ever has it gone over 14gb of memory being full/used.

Any ideas on this EVGA? I have been reading a few posts which suggest this is sort of common, some ppl get rid of the issue by switching to 1.5v ram like g.skill ?

    Best, _Morg

If you get two more 4gb sticks then each slot needs to be filled basically 1 through 4 (see manual). I think this board would like this more with 32gb.

For example if your using adobe after effects this would let you use the render multiple frames in background option with 1.25gb per processor core with a lil bit to spare! Sick.

FYI, single-ranked DIMMs work fine, at least if you only use one DIMM/channel. I have 6x8GB single-ranked ECC RDIMMs and it works just fine. 12x8GB single-ranked doesn't POST, but 12x8GB dual-ranked can be persuaded to POST.

Identify first whether the problem follows the DIMM or the slot. If it follows the slot, check for bent CPU pins. If there are no bent CPU pins, RMA the board. If the problem follows the DIMM, RMA the DIMM. Always test at default settings (clear the CMOS).

After running CPU-Z. I tried putting all the ram back in and it works !
So probably a loose ram or loose cpu thing.
Thank you for the help !
