I came across this while looking for news on Poem's GPU application.

Hi,

I've been looking forward to announce new GPU jobs for the last two weeks, but unfortunately we've detected a random calculation error during our local test phase.
We are now checking the new code for bugs.
I don't know how long it will take, so I have to postpone the announcement.

The number of collective_move_set jobs won't be increased, because the data of the currently running jobs will suffice.

We still can't run arbitrary simulations on GPUs, because we don't have OpenCL implementations for all of our forcefields, that's why CPU jobs outnumber GPU jobs at the moment.

Best regards
Thomas

    POEM++ 2.17 Released
The new POEM@HOME version is now live. Both CPU and OpenCL versions have been updated.
In combination with the release, we also started three new types of GPU work units. Special thanks go to Vladimir Tankovich, whose GPU code made this possible.
Important: If you configured your client to run multiple GPU jobs on a single ATI card, jobs may fail. We are still investigating in this case. If you get this error, please adjust your settings to only run one POEM job per GPU in the meantime.

Their web site shows 17,000 GPU tasks ready to send out.  I haven't seen this many in a long time.

Yes they did indeed add a huge amount of GPU work units to the queue. I got one late last night and then another not long afterwords. More than one at a time is rare so I had to go and look at the server status and was shocked to finally see a whole pile of POEM GPU work units up for grabs. I have been running them full tilt just in case they find another problem and cut the number back again.

I was just feeling frustrated that I could not find a good stable project to run on my second GPU along side GPU Grid on my GTX 680. Milkyway has issues recently with getting valid results, Collatz has been down more often than it has been up the last month, etc.

Thanks for the heads up. 780 is starting to chew them up.

Hmm... The 970 is doing them in 30 minutes vs over 60 for the 780.

I'm running a few on my 780 sc as well.. at 1110 Mhz it looks like 60-65 min per task. Gonna try some OC'ing after a few stable runs

Also at 9k points/hour per 780 it's not the most point producing project.. by 64%+.. I still think PG's PPS Sieve reins supreme.. @ 25,000 points per hour.. followed by GPUGrid at 23k.. So for bio science GPU Grid still seems to be the way to go.

This is not at project you want to run if you are using the computer, it is a real Kernel Hog and takes 96% Plus of the GPU.
It make using the computer really slow when you are typing of using the web.

Finished running OC testing.. on my 780 SC I was able to stable run several at 1149Mhz.. any higher and I got near immediate crashes. Still coming in around the same time as the earlier 1110Mhz runs too.. for basically stock freq (1110Mhz) was actually 65-72 minutes. The 1149Mhz runs came in at 59-65 minutes.

    Bummer!
GTX 660ti and 326.80 drivers. (for folding) I have another 660ti with the 344.11 drivers doing fine.

I hate that they requiring above ver 330 for the majority of crunching projects.. the folding driver 327.23 on the 700's is the one you need to do video editing too.. so argh!!! driver changes!!!

I've already commenced the the back off and shutting down until the storm passes.

bcav, I could never out point you for very long. Just glad to have another bio-med gpu project to go to now and again. Crunch on brother!

It looks like they had a small hiccup with the servers so getting things validated and points posted will be delayed just a little bit today.
