Hello everyone,

I got a brand new Supernova G2 750W last week. I'm quite happy with it so far. But I have one little question.

I've been using the psu with eco mode off during the last week. The fan is very quite and it's cooling well, never felt any kind of warmth around psu even under heavy loads (while my old tt toughpower unit was getting quite hot)

But I decided to use the eco mode since it's a great feature. The thing is I mounted the psu fan facing down. Would that be a problem? My case is Corsair Carbide 400R. It has a decent ventilation space and a dust filter down there.

I guess letting heat rising up from the psu pcb is a good thing especially for fanless units, and also having that fan grill facing up helps the unit utilize some air from the case's interior airflow. But does it matter if I still have the fan facing down with eco mode on? I really don't want some dust drops inside the psu, and also being able to accidentally drop a screw into the unit. :P

I'm also wondering when eco mode is off does the fan rpm is still auto controlled depending on the temperature? Or does it just spins at the maximum rpm?

So waiting for your advices.

Best,

Supertrampp welcome to the EVGA forums! Ventilation configurations for any PC should be considered depending on average room temperature. There really is no problem having the PSU at the bottom any more than there is a problem with having it installed at the top of the case but as you said, the only real concern with having the fan facing down would be dropping hardware while unmounting a component. Eco mode will be fine regardless of the placement inside the case. I can at least confirm that the fan on the PSU does throttle according to the temperature of the unit with and without Eco mode enabled. You can see the RPM seldom fluctuate if you go into your system's BIOS and look at PC Health Status, System Monitor or Hardware Monitor. This value is greatly affected of course, under heavy usage.

I couldn't see any kind of rpm info in my system's bios regarding the psu. I just have the cpu and other case fans' rpm and loads of voltage info.

I think it's not possible to see fan RMP in BIOS or software.
I never saw PSU speed, on any models, and now on 1200 P2 is not visible, that's normal.
You thought 0% and if PSU fan start to work than RPM. That's not possible.
PSU need to be connected with motherboard with some other kind of connection not only 24pin and CPU to see that.

Yeah I know that it's not possible but actually that was what EVGATech_JoseR said. He said "You can see the RPM seldom fluctuate if you go into your system's BIOS and look at PC Health Status, System Monitor or Hardware Monitor. Anyways,

What's your suggestion about installing the psu? Fan facing down or up with eco mode on?

I know that's not possible, I even check now in my BIOS and even with Eco disabled when fan work I can't see nothing what can be PSU fan speed.
Only RPM of my fans and H100 pump, BIOS is Z77 FTW and PSU 1200 P2 same with Eco Mode as your.
I don't know for newer motherboards, my BIOS is still older version. Maybe he thought on something else...
