Hi Guys, So I just recently bought an EVGA GT 240 (512-P3-1240-LR) to replace a 220 as my physx card. Everything pretty much seems to be okay...played Mafia II with it, no problems. But then I put my computer to sleep and when i woke it i noticed in Precision the clocks get stuck at 405 core/810 shader...no error codes pop up, not even in device manager. It won't budge from there even if i run a physx application (runs slow after this), but my GTX 260 is alright and downclocks as usual. I disabled the 240 and re-enabled it and the 240 goes back to normal and downclocks. Just to make sure the card is okay I ran fluidmark on a fresh reboot at 120,000 particles for an hour and everything okay. The card just has that problem after making the pc sleep, which is weird because the 220 didn't have that problem. Anybody have any ideas or know of a fix? It's just really annoying since I use the sleep function all the time, haha. My system is in my sig and i'm running a fresh 258.96 install with the newest physx drivers. Thanks!

Why do you use sleep? Shutting it down won't kill you. How about trying to shut it down and then start it back up. See if the problem is still there.

Boogyman93 Why do you use sleep? Shutting it down won't kill you. How about trying to shut it down and then start it back up. See if the problem is still there. Well that wasn't the point. Thanks. I find sleep fn. convenient though. I can low power everything quickly myself or automatically if i leave the comp unattended for a long period, and when i power back all my apps i had open are there along with any websites and everything 4 times as fast. And i got use to it because there was this problem with my logitech illuminated keyboard preventing my bios from loading for a good 3 minutes or so... But yes, everything is fine after shutting down and starting up...after restarting too...like i said just happens when i wake the pc from sleep. Rebooting normalizes everything. So does disabling and re-enabling the card in device manager. I'm just simply asking if anybody knows of a fix, or if this is common for the gt 240. The little brother 220 worked fine, don't know why this one isn't. it should, right?

Try to use MSI Afterburner instead of precision. See if that works.

First off... Switch to MSI Afterburner and set it to apply your overclock at startup. Then try resuming from sleep and run a game or Kombuster and see if your cards upclock to factory speeds/OC speeds. Also try setting Nvidia Control Panel to Prefer Maximum Performance. If you are using SLI at all, try disabling and re-enabling SLI mode. That resets the display driver and should have your cards back to normal.

StevenDaniel I had a same sleep problem with my mobo. i figured out that most os dont work good in computer sleep mode. it wont hurt you to shutdow/ save power/cards life That's great and all, but like the OP said, we're using the GT 240 as a PhysX card. Our primary cards are changing clocks fine. It's just the 240 that's getting stuck. I'm also unwilling to give up sleep. My computer draws less than 8W while sleeping and takes a few seconds to wake up as opposed to over a minute from rebooting. OV3RCLK4 First off... Switch to MSI Afterburner and set it to apply your overclock at startup. I already use Afterburner. I don't believe the problem is OC software related. I've even flashed the card with different GT 240 512MB BIOSs (MSI, ASUS, etc) to rule out a BIOS bug and the problem persisted. If I get some time this week, I'm going to test the 240 in my primary x16 slot to see if this bug is related to running it as a secondary card. Ultimately though, this doesn't really matter. From my experiments, the GT 240 is not a very good PhysX companion card for the GTX 460 so the 240 is going to be returned or stored in the closet as a backup.

I have a ASUS ENGT240 512MB DDR5 and have the same problem. Using it as a primary the clocks are normal. Also tried flashing the BIOS with several other vendors with no luck. Also tired a Palit 1GB DDR3 and that downclocks fine after sleep. Thinking it may be a bug in nvidia's reference design. I have to agree, with any GTX card a dedicated physx card is pretty redundant. Even so, nvidia knew people would be using this cards for this so it should have been researched more thoroughly.
