Here the one I have for reference :)

Now what would be nice if anyone here from this great cosy community can help me find and acquire an EVGA GTX 480 Backplate and an EVGA GTX 400/500 series High Flow Bracket, that would be really awesome if I can still buy these parts from anyone

With this I will Beta test and support Circle5 Studio's with beta testing NVIDIA SLI Support & Ageia/NVIDIA PhysX support in Primal Carnage Extinction x64 2.0.3 Beta and onwards!

Here some pics of my new EVGA GTX 480 I IZ SO HAPPEHZ XDDDD

So yeaps, all is going as planned, My Fermi days shall return shortly!

I think there are still some high flow brackets for those in the EVGA store

Well not at the one here in The Netherlands, so I am asking if people here at the EVGA Forums are willing to help me get one of those shipped to me with an EVGA GTX 480 Backplate as well, that is if they are around as well

The EVGA Store of Europe doesn't have the parts I seek, which is the main issue

So here some pics before I add pics of the both EVGA GTX 480's in the system it's self

It's not easy finding those two parts, but I won't give up looking for them

    Hello Gold leader

I'm sorry to post here, as a new memeber I can't make private messages :(

I have a K8N-DL & 2x Opteron 290 and I bought 2x scythe shuriken exactly like in your Firefox SMP 2006 rigs... but unlike you it didn't fit.... how did you manage to deal with the maintain system to avoid conflict in the small space betwwen the two sockets ?

Also I tried many graphics card with my system and conclude the PCIE 16x 1.0 do not support AMD/Ati card PCIE 3.0 and have major compatibility problems with Nvidia PCIE 3.0 compiliant cards ( BSOD ), best card for this system is GTX 590 and I personnaly use GTX 580. The rig is able to support a lot of recents games, it's funny :-p

    Well, hello there

Well at first I want to give you a warm welcome to the EVGA Forums Sorry for the late reply, I have not been feeling to great lately.
And to answer your question, well it took me and my friend Nelis about three hours to get those suckers on there, the op CPU socket is the one you should do first but the slave CPU socket the bottom one this is the crucial part, Nelis my friend had to file a 45 degree slope on the downwards side of that CPU's heatsink so we could flip it in without the need of any force.

Now fasten the main CPU's heatsink's mechanism. Now off to the slave CPU.

Once you successfully seated the slave CPU heatsink, hereby hoping you did not forget to remove that blasted plastic protection cover which the CPU heatsinks come with .... Because we obviously did hahahah  This was sooo annoying but as well experienced tinkers we always did manage anyway

And then once you have managed to place it, blindly try and fasten it with it's mechanism, so it covers the mechanism from the main CPU's heatsink, this is the crucial part, since it's not easy and personally I would never do this again because at the time I did this which was late 2006, there were no better air cooling solutions for 40 euro's, but nowadays I would look what Cooler Master and Noctua has, as they would have a far better cooling solution for Socket940, HSF's for Socket 940 are backwards compliant with that from Socket F 1207 as well btw, so you will have plenty cooling options.

The reason I also went for the Scythe Shurikens was for my case mod's design I wanted it to have two centred Enermax Twister Fans and this worked out okay, now removing this HSF seup won't be easy so think carefuloly if you really want to use Shurikens because it was a nightmare for Nelis and I both. Nelis is SR71 Blackbird here on the forums I think.

Very awesome! I'll be the first to say this, but man that rig must drain some serious power from the wall! What's funny is even in today's world 4-5 years later and the 480's can still put up some good numbers & performance.

Awesome setup.  I had a GTX 480 myself and it was quite a powerful card.  I'm biased towards AMD, however I always thought the 480 hate was unjustified.

    Many thanks you two
Yeah this system still does very well the two GTX 480's in SLI Perform between a GTX 770 and a GTX 780, in some cases faster than a single GTX 780, so it's really not that bad actually
I also look forward how they will do with DX12, as it seems all Geforce GTX 400 series and up will support DX12 rofl

As for the power usage roughly 870 Watts max system load, a bit less than when I had my GTX 295 Red Editions in it @ GTX 275 Speeds, I got 996 Watts then rofl, this was with a 4 hour stability run with Furrmark, I never did burn in though.

But yeah, for me this system does great in the game it needs to be running and the idea of running 2-Way SLI with two EVGA GTX 480's still feels masterful to some point
