It happened with AMD video cards. Why wouldn't it happen with a monitor. Demand.. Price scaling to match the people willing to pay double just for the latest trend thinking it will are them better gamers.

This really bites,Is it Asus or the retailers.I for one will most likely now go with someone other than Asus...they have been great monitors but I will not pay that much.

It is more than likely the retailers.  There are still retailers trying to sell the Titan Z for 3k, when it has been 1500 for a few months now.  I wouldn't blame ASUS just yet.  Hopefully they will do like AMD did during the big bitcoin mining craze, and force the retailers to lower prices, but more than likely not.

Do realize, that the Retailer purchases the monitor from ASUS, and then they set the price to what they think is appropriate.  The MSRP is only a suggestion. You are required to pay attention to who you are buying from.  This is like buying a brand new ford Mustang for $65000 from and unauthorized dealer, just because it isn't available at the Authorized dealer for $32500.  It's a waste of money, so don't support it.

Look at Amazon.  There are 4 for sale.  $1105, $1159, $1249, $1356.  Not one of them sold by Amazon.

NewEgg: SHipped and Sold by Action Pack Inc.  Buy from NewEgg for 799.00 "Please Click to AutoNotify.  That justifies that this is some SCHMUCK trying to take advantage of the limited availability.  Don't blame ASUS for the users that ruin it for everyone.

Very informative,personally..I cannot afford that price period and refuse to pay that amount.I am not one of those that has to have the best,I just need a good gaming monitor and this build will be my last for a long while and I know from past builds that if I shortcut and go too cheap,I end up spending more in a mere few months. You have been most helpful Scarlet..with all your input.

I would not pay over 500$ for that monitor even new Curved Monitors are better for me and more elegant.
I'm not 15-16 years old and I like more design as Apple and Dell. Big Curved monitor for few days when customer used on that feel much better than on flat surface because it's closer to our natural view, soon after that you don't see curved panel at all.
