I'm not sure what the average temperature is suppose to be for my card, but I could have sworn it wasn't running nearly this hot before I RMAed it.

atm I'm getting temps at 88c under heavy load, and it idles at 34c, both at stock clocks.

It may just be bad thermal paste.  Do you have any spare?  It is 5 screws and 20 minutes of your time to change it, if you want to try.

This is what I had to do to one of my 770 Classifieds, Idle was normal......any kind of "load" it would shoot up to 80*c or more in a split second. Replaced the TIM and everything is normal now.

Hmm, I may do that then... but... don't think I have any paste on hand atm, but I might, may as well give it a shot.

In closed case could be and 85C. You must turn fan on 80% during intensive gaming or 70% and side panel open.
It's high boost and temps are higher.

Well something was up, card just bit the dust. ( it had locked up a few times before) Anyway I started up a game, screens went blank and I could hear the fan going at 100%. Had to hard reset it, and when I did, nothing came up on the displays. reset the computer a few times, did a cold boot, and still no go, swapped out the card with an older one, and poof, everything worked fine. Kind of annoyed by this card now, as I've already RMAed it once due to artifacts that required me to underclock it to keep it stable. Guess I could RMA it then sell it however. Don't really want to give it a third try anymore.

Really bad, if you sell try to buy immediately GTX980 Classified, because you will easier sell GTX980 and upgrade on GM200 or GM210 depend what show up. I suppose you will not stay longer on GTX980 because you had almost same performance with KP Classified even higher except than GTX980 Classified.
But I would try few more times to install card, in other slot or again.
That happen and to me, I try to uninstall driver and suddenly screen become black, than I reset on case button but pictures show up every time after that. Or you can keep new GTX780Ti KPC until GM200 show up. Now I see EVGA didn't done at least 20% of GTX780Ti KPC cards. I don't know why when GTX780Ti Classy worked well, but again Galaxy, GIGABYTE and Inno 3D would be in very big advantage over normal Classified version with almost 60MHz higher clock. EVGA need one faster card. But you can't produce and flash with faster BIOS if no enough good chips, that make problem to customers. Only they made 20% more cards. They shouldn't do that because anyway all cards was not sold some small number stay. 20% less could fit exactly for customers who wish that card and to get good cards.

Sorry to hear that bud.  Let us know what you decide.  I can completely understand now wanting to deal with another RMA.

He should wait anyway after Holidays finish. Best after 10th January.
I think office will work 4th but I'm not sure how long, best to wait until they start to work normal and test if something change.

Well I ordered 2 GTX 980s ( figured that would be an upgrade eh? ) I'm also hoping that the GTX 980 ti ( or whatever name it'll have) will be out before the step-up window closes (last rumors I heard were Feburary? Here's to hoping anyway)  Been a long time sense I had and SLI set up, back when I had two GTX 285s

Yes you are now fine until GM210 show up.
    What you use reference model?

    You couldn't play games on GTX780Ti K|NGP|N ?
Or when GM210 show up, you can sell them and upgrade on some premium single model,
power will be maybe only little less than GTX980 SLI but fabric overclocked models even closer.

I'm playing at 4k so yeah, even a kingpin can struggle in some games at that rez, plus I had a case of upgrade-itis and also didn't want to go through an RMA to get a card that I've already struggled with a lot. I got the Superclocked versions of the 980s (though I am a bit unsure about how well/fast the displayport thing with the 980s will be fixed, but then again I had blackscreen problems with the 780 ti as well. Still I was able to get around it when it happened by power-cycling the monitor (power-cycling sounds much fancier than just turning it off and back on again)

I can't wait to Swiftech H220X arrive in Europe and to expand him in one simple water-cooling system.
They still didn't start distribution in Europe, I can't believe...
