I am likely going to be doing an upgrade from my current P67 2600K setup to a 4790K after the new year.  My P67 has a ton of fan headers.  My build sits in a Cosmos II case and I have a total of 7 case fans, plus 2 additional on my closed loop water cooling system.  Can those who have these 2 boards chime in and give me an estimate as to how many fan headers these 2 boards have?  I downloaded the manuals and looked at some pictures but I can't seem to figure out how many headers these boards have.

Any help, would be greatly appreciated.

Howdy got to it all first, lol.  The classified post is slightly incorrect though. Here is some more info:

Removed the FTW picture, as it was already covered by Howdy.

Two CPU Fans in blue and five 3 pin headers:

3 are accessible and 2 are... well.. look at that...  To connect the one under the heatsink, you must know magic.  If you install the I/O cover there should be a routing hole in the cover, but I am not sure if they actually considered that.

From personal experience, if you are only using 2 GPU's at max, save the money and get the FTW.  If you are using 3 or 4, that is the only time the Classified will be helpful.  The classified has a PLX Chip that "Creates" more pcie lanes... it will cause latency and will not make gaming better.  The 2x16 is also a ruse and does not function like people think it will on the classified.  I understand that was not part of your inquiry, but if it helps you make a decision, you really need to be informed before purchasing. Lane 2 and 4 provide 2x16, so watercooling, reference cooler, or overheating cards are your three option.

LOL, I was going off the manual ...... Overclockers knows the board better than EVGA does !!!!  Scarlet-Tech is correct about the x16 slots (I have the Z97 Classified) Supposed mis-print in the manual......well 2 now since it doesn't point out the fan headers UNDER the snazzy cover (WOW!)

I have to one up that one... x79 Dark... The cover is in the same spot.. the fan header is slight forward... what do you do?

OFF WITH THE HEAD(er)!!!!!  It is even labeled CHA_FAN1.......

Don't worry though!!! The more cost effetive motherboard has PWM headers... Pay more for a "better board", and they trim them down to 3 pin. I understand most want the Classifieds for Overclocking, but really...

Well I took a look-see at the fan headers that were pointed out in the Overclockers photo......unless you remove the cover....it's a no-can-do situation with out modifying the cover itself (from what I can tell anyway) with out tearing everything apart and plugging in a fan. Annnnnnnnndddddddd I'm not doing it ...my luck would end up in epic failure

If fan headers are that important then you shouldn't limit yourself to the evga boards.

Thanks for the info everyone.  Much appreciated.  HRP. I see you have the ASUS Maximus VII.  That is the other board I am considering.  How is that board for you?  How many fan headers?

    Thanks.

It has 2 cpu and 4 chassis fan headers on it and asus has them in places that are easy to get to.  http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_HERO/  This board is way better than the z97 ftw that is collecting dust right now.  Whatever you do make sure that you do a uefi windows installation if you've got 7 or 8.  On the asus board with windows 8.1 pro x64 stage 3 of the bios and the windows load screen merge with the uefi boot.  None of the controllers on this board drop drives and I haven't had any usb issues either.  The asus ai suite 3 gives you tons of options for controlling the board including fan tuning to all fans attached to the mb fan headers.  My 4790k hasn't misbehaved one time since moving to this board and I say that because imho the bios on the z97 ftw gave me fits including making my 4790k slow way down performance wise without down clocking it.  At one point it had my cpu scoring a wei of 6.7.  It was that night that I pretty much decided that I was going back to asus and I have no intention of changing my mind unless of course gigabyte tempts me with something sweet.  My maximus boots each and everytime I press the power button and if you're serious about it check out the link I left you so you can see the layout for yourself including the fan header locations as well as all of the features on it including 2 usb 2 motherboard headers, 8+2 phase power and heatsinks for them.  Look at the quality of the construction vs the z97 ftw plus the features and check out the asus uefi bios layout.

Thanks for the help HRP.  I think I am going to go with the ASUS board.  Not only is it less expensive, but it seems to have all of the features I am looking for.  I appreciate it!

You are very welcome sir and I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.  Whatever you do get a real heat sink fan for your cpu if you don't already have one.  The stock intel cooler is just horrible even when running stock.  If you have a dual fan cpu cooler be sure to use the cpu and cpu opt headers and run qfan from bios and then the fan tuning in ai suite 3 to profile them in windows.

The one under the heatsink is labeled PWR_FAN and has 4 pins but for some reason isn't PWM
