Hey Guys I am a long time EVGA User, started with 8800 gts and had pretty much every card (blower style) up to this day.

Anyway my main Problem is that its the loudest card that i have ever had from Evga. At 29% Fan speed i can hear this constant rattling noise not very loud but it sounds like a ball bearing may be faulty. The only time i have heard such a sound was with cards at around 100 Euro price point.

My EVGA Cards External exhaust (Quiet in comparison)

8800 GTS
2 x GTX 295 Quad sli
GTX 580
GTX 680
GTX 780

My question is, is this sound normal on the Evga 970?? because I'm thinking of getting an replacement. I will upload an video soon. If they all sound like this I am Probably gonna have to switch brand.

Guys... Seriously... I would even pay extra to have a fan that dose not suck... Guys How much extra would it cost to use a good quality fan?

OK i uploaded the video but i cant post a direct link!

In the Beginning of the video i start/stop the fan with my hand, afterwards i start recording at IDLE (29% Fan speed) and keep raising by 10 % Each time up to 100% (29,40,50,60,70,80,90,100%)
In the last part Let the card IDLE and then accelerate Fan to 100% and back to idle.

OK i think the Fan has a serious problem after running for 3 hours. it has begun doing crazy squeaky noises, sounds a bit like coil whine but its the fan... :( My Goodness...

you might search the 7oo series forum for rattling  noise. I think some people had problems with rattling fins on the acx 2.0 cooler.  I think one guy posted his fix to this problem. not sure if the 900 series had this problem also but might check into it.

but I do agree, I had the 760 and stepped up to the 970. it is much louder than my 760 , I don't have any abnormal noises (yet) but the fans are louder

Thank you for being the only one to reply, i checked through the forum but im pretty sure the fan itself is making rattling clicking noises.

I have repackaged the card and i am sending it back and i'm getting a replacement. I will report back when i get the new one and i hope that i was just unlucky. I was just thinking, i can't think of any reason why a fan should make clicking noises...  Its just an elektrik motor with a fan attached to it and the motor itself should be very quiet at low speeds. I'm just so confused because case fans are fantastic even 10 years ago, but this seems to be very common with low end gpus.

Another thought: would it be possible to order 3,4 or 5 fans for my gpu and i would test them myself and i would keep the best one? I would pay for them???
