There's got to be a better way.  I have almost $100 EVGA bucks, hence not purchasing from Newegg, and I will only purchase the HC version of the card, as my system is under water and I'm not doing the switch the waterblock thing again.  Not to mention the clocking on the HC is basically classified levels, blah, blah, blah..  But now I have gone through 4 rounds of auto notify with no joy.  I'll wait for the card, but this "hunt and peck" is getting old for an $800 product.  Especially, with T-day around the corner, most are not sitting on their computer waiting for an e-mail that may never come.  I don't understand why there isn't a "pre-order/backorder" like option.  And if EVGA can't keep the cards in stock for longer than 10 minutes why are they shipping so many to Newegg (who one day later still has stock)?  They have to be able to see the number of "auto-notify requests" and have a good idea from there how many will be sold.  And if they feel they need to "support" newegg, which I get, why won't they drop ship from that supply?  I went through this issue with the 680 HC and ended up having to run a true HC and Sig2 with a waterblock.  It just never worked quite right.

Love EVGA and support them whereever possible, I don't even consider other cards.  Still this is ridiculous.  Getting frustrated and needed to vent.

I waited for my 3rd card also because of EVGA-Bucks. It will be delivered today.
Reading through this Thread I see members looking for a standard 980 and adding a water block.
While this will work fine it will not have the 1291MHz Base Clock 1393MHz Boost Clock 165GT/s Texture Fill Rate which for the most part is the Base for the Classified Model without the extra Overclocking + the Bells and Wiesel's.
While you can add a water block to Part Number: 04G-P4-2980-KR 1126MHz Base Clock 1216MHz Boost Clock 144GT/s Texture Fill Rate.
You do not get the same Clock Power as you do with the HC Model 04G-P4-2989-KR.

04G-P4-2989-KR 1291MHz Base Clock 1393MHz Boost Clock 165GT/s Texture Fill Rate Hydro Copper.
04G-P4-2980-KR 1126MHz Base Clock 1216MHz Boost Clock 144GT/s Texture Fill Rate Reference Card.

iBruce,

My apologies if I had misspoke in September. To clarify I meant products that have an EK SKU and I believe that that has been the case. As far as I'm aware of at this very moment, the EVGA 980 HC will be the last block that doesn't have the jet plate tech that's featured in our latest blocks. The design of the 980 HC was started before the design of the "general EK" 980 block.

Derick,

What bridge do you recommend using the 980 HC in SLI?

Thanks

The HydroCopper blocks are not compatible with our bridges due to the inlets/outlets being wider than our regular blocks.

Sorry, new to these forums but there seems like ALOT of information to go over.  I recently bought 3 04G-P4-2983-KR (Hoping this was a good choice). I'm looking to run them in SLI with a Rampage 5 mb and 5930 chip.   Would I notice a huge difference going to 4 in SLI,  also I would like information on what would be the best waterblocks and entire cooling system for that matter that would be good for this setup.  I currently have an h105 on the cpu but open to suggestions.  I've never done water cooling outside of the like I mentioned the h105 but that is easy to install.  Any information would be appreciated.  Thanks

Has this status changed with regards to the EVGA HydroCopper blocks compatibility with the EKWB EK-FC Terminal SLI blocks?  I really wanted to buy two GTX980 HyrdoCopper cards and have an existing watercooling setup that consists of EKWB EK waterblocks on GTX780s and am using an EK-FC Terminal SLI block (pic provided below for reference).  But, I can't proceed if there is no solution for using an EKWB EK-FC Terminal block if one isn't available that's compatible with the EVGA HydroCopper blocks.  Thanks in advance for any information you can provide!

*Update*  The FrozenCPU website lists the exact same block used on the EVGA GTX980 HydroCopper to be compatible with the EK-FC Terminal SLI bridge (click on the blue oval labeled "COMPATIBLE BRIDGES" located further down the page):

Is this correct?

it is the same block but the outlet is not compatible with the hydro copper... It is noticeably wider than the normal block due to the EVGA logo that lights up.

Yes, this is what usually set the hydrocopper apart from standard ek blocks, is the minor change of the inlet/outlet port. If there wasn't at least a minor difference, what would stop EK from selling them out of their store?

I have stopped purchasing terminals, because the parallel terminals don't have the input at the bottom. All of my cards need to have access to the probe it connector, and since ek won't at the port on the bottom, I moved back over to stock terminals.

The hydrocopper also has more inlet/outlet port options as well.

I prefer the parallel terminal blocks because of the simplistic installation as well as much better coolant flow.  Not to mention running with the conventional connectors, there is a fair amount of parasitic coolant temperature rise as the coolant works its way from the first to last card in the circuit.  No thanks!  Too many cons than pros running with conventional connectors.  I'll just have to buy my own set of EK waterblocks for my next graphics card upgrade.  I'm holding out until the GTX980Ti is released later this summer/fall

No, the color of the LED can't be changed.  This is a huge disappointment.  EVGA's new Pro SLI V2 (version 2) bridges they just released also do not offer the ability to change the color of the LED.  IMHO, this was a huge fail for the EVGA hardware engineers.  Color LEDs could have easily been integrated into the SLI bridge as well as the hydrocopper waterblocks.  I hate to bash, but EVGA really does need to change their way of thinking and start listening to their paying customers!!

The Asus bridge lights up red. Just like all of their stuff that has leds on it like the motherboard sound card.

Future bridges may have RGB, but currently the Nvidia has green, Asus has red and EVGA has a blueish type color.

The only product with full RGB that I can think of is the 980 K|ngp|n from the EVGA lineup. So, I would like to know where you are finding the RGB items you currently speak of. Asus just released their bridge, so it will be a few months before a revision comes with RGB.

http://rog.asus.com/39151...15-the-rog-sli-bridge/ look for yourself while bashing EVGA at this point. Sorry, but it doesn't work until the competition has what you are saying they have.

HUGE disappointment.  So, we have our choice of red if you have Asus cards, or white if you have EVGA cards.  How lame

And get off EVGA's dick.  They can defend themselves.  We don't need your smartass comments.  NUFF SAID!

You mad because I proved you wrong. It wasn't smart anything* comments, it was fact.

EVGA has 2 screws holding the shroud to the PCB. A small piece of color film can be inserted to change the color to match your build.

If you don't want people proving your responses to be outrageous an uninformed, do research before you post. EVGA tends to ignore the people* that make false accusations without glancing briefly at the competitions website, and I own plenty of Asus hardware right now, because they make some parts better than EVGA. I am not defending EVGA here, I am shutting down false comments. Huge difference.

*forgot, can't say specific things about people, so I had to edit my comment.
