Hi guys, I've been getting sporadic crashes that don't really seem to have a cause. I can be playing a game for an hour and a half without crashing then when I reboot it runs for 5 minutes then crashes and so forth and so forth, I'm not sure what the cause is it seems to happen after a random duration of time. I've never had it happen on the desktop or watching videos, only in games. I've tried ALOT of things. I got the card from my brother after my old 560 TI died, it is flashed to have a higher voltage (1212mV) however I don't believe it to be this as I did alot of troubleshooting.

1.) Flashed BIOS on the card back to stock, ran it for a while. Still crashed randomly.
2.) Did a clean reinstall of Windows, installed newest Nvidia drivers and EVGA Precision. Still crashed randomly.
3.) Bought a new PSU thinking the 12v rail was weak, have a SeaSonic SSR-650RM now the 12v rail is constantly stable at 11.681v even under heavy load. Still crashed randomly.
4.) Ran a Memtest86 pass, no errors. Still crashed randomly
5.) Underclocked by -25mhz thinking the boost might be acting freaky. Still crashed randomly.

I'm at ends wit here after spending a week and 90 bucks to try to fix this thing, does anyone have any ideas? I've tried running Furmark for 10 minutes, I've run intensive games like Mechwarrior Online which push it up to 70*c and high usage and it doesn't seem to do anything from what I can see but games like CSGO and Dota 2 will have problems after a random time, I'm sure MWO will do it too if I play long enough. Help please!

Underclock further like -105 on both the core and memory.

I haven't had any problems so far with it underclocked, if it crashes I'll make another post.

Thanks.

Time to RMA as your card is unstable. You should never have to underclock your card ever.

Just replying back, other games like Arma 3 and MWO run stable CSGO and Dota 2 do not. It seems only source games do this.

Well you have two options...

#1 Play with the card underclocked.
#2 RMA the card.

I would suggest doing #2. Choosing #1 would be a bad idea as you would be playing on borrowed time just waiting for the GPU to get worse.

How can I check the warranty of the card? The RMA page and Warranty page don't really tell me anything.

The card comes with a 3 year warranty. Did you register the card with EVGA?

No, I got the GPU from my brother when he purchased a new card. Will I have to get him to RMA it?

Yes, if he registered the card with EVGA he will need to RMA it.

Thanks I appreciate all the help, a bit frustrating to have 2 seperate cards go toast (Had a 560 TI before this 660 TI) in the past 3 months.

No problem. You could also do a Guest RMA if he did register it.

Because manufacturers leave to customers get unstable cards. That happen and with tested samples even if they try to explain how they binned them. I think all manufacturer should start to do one simple thing. When they finish testing cards than one more time with 50MHz OC manual. If some card crash he will replace she anyway only is question when for 1 year or 2 year on 5 months because games in future and 99% usage 2h will cause crash. Because of that is best way to immediately avoid suffering of people and whole process because that will cost both side.
I doubt anybody could simulate Crysis 3 or Tomb Raiders before 2-3 years or new engine and if some card have 10-15MHz space or she leave to go in shops overclocked on last stable clock such card is doomed on crash in future.

EVGA 02g-p4-3662-kr  random crash

Since I bought this video card I have this crash issue . Has even updated the BIOS for a RECENT version but nothing worked . The only solution I found to mitigate the crashes was ENABLE V -SYNC and put the fan plate at 100 % most of the time through software ( Evga PrecisionX 16) .

My card: EVGA Nvidia GTX 660 TI SC  2gb RAM  MODEL: 02g-p4-3662-kr
