Hey, I'm in the process of packaging my faulty gtx 970 gpu. Problem is that I accidently took off the sticker when I first installed the card in my rig. I still have the warrenty sticker on the gtx 970 box , but my question is that where would the original sticker should belong? I really don't want to get my faulty card rejected from the rma department. Also, I have the original gtx 970 box, so would that be acceptable? I know that evga approved the rma today right after the last day of shipping to evga rma department.

I would love to hear your response, EVGA. Thanks! :)

Just on the back of the card.  It doesn't have an absolutely specific spot it has to be attached.  As long as it is on the back, they will help you out :-)

Ah....gotcha! I'll put the sticker on the back. Hope it still sticked tight. Thanks! :)

Scarlet-Tech is right, just don't use any sort of adhesive to put the sticker back on the card. If it won't stay on the card, just put it in the anti-static bag or in the plastic clamshell with the card.

Luckly the sticker actually sticks on the back of the card, except the left edge of the sticker i can't get it to stick. So, is that ok if i left it alone?
Since I threw the anti-static bag in the trash can, but I still have the clam shell, is it acceptable if I sent it in using the clam shell only or do I have to buy some anti-static bags?

Clamshell will do it , but I have seen other companies like xfx told me to put the card in brown paper bag in case I don't have the anti static bag.

Ah ok! That's good. But will it get damage while being shipped to EVGA with the clamshell? I mean I tucked it in on the clamshell and closed it real tight. If it doesn't, then I'm good. :) Otherwise, I'll need a tape to close the edge of the box. Don't want the clamshell to fall apart during the transit.

I don't think it will get damaged if you ship it inside the clamshell. You will need some outside padding to make sure it goes safely.

What outside paddling? Sorry that I don't understand what you meant. You mean a piece of tape?

Just a bump on what's going on with the RMA. Somehow, according to the ups tracker, it says it's departure scan dated on January 5th, somehow it still haven't delivered it yet. I really hope if they delivered to the RMA department around today, I hope. And btw, the shipping is ups ground shipped through staples.

Got the RMA card back and artifacts still show in team fortress 2 when loading to a 2 fort map server. Why is this happening? Also, I ran Heaven for 10 loops and didn't find any crashes and errors. X_X I just want TF2 to run flawless. :(

I honestly doubt it was a game issue. I posted my problem at the Nvidia forums and one user told me that those are geometric artifacts that caused by a GPU core clocked too high. Also, he told me that synthetic benchmarks usually don't catch up on artifacts but in most games you'd find those artifacts, especially in factory oc'd Gpus. In turn, I RMA'd my first card and around few days later I got the replacement and the issues remained there. Now, if only gtx 970 sc users chimed up and agree on this situation, I'd understand.

If this was a game issue, then tell me if these all are game specific issues?

Those screenshots happen on my first gtx 970 before I RMA'd.

My sincere apologies and right now, I'm absolutely stumped. :(

In your other thread I told you to downclock the core & memory to -105 to see if it would get rid of the artifacts... You told me downclocking -105 on both did not remove the artifacts. That tells me it's a game issue or you need to downclock the card further.

Yeah, but I honestly forget to apply the underclock settings when that happen. Now, around that time when those artifacts happen in the screenshot from my last post, I underclocked it to minus 105 in both core and memory and clicked apply. After that, the artifacts are the same. It also give me the TDR error when I load an empty server on 2 fort, which makes tf2 not responding. Shortly, I reverted back to stock settings and test heaven benchmark to find out it also started to black screen, at least it came back to heaven, but no TDR error so I closed heaven. And thus I began start the rma process.

With the replacement card, I ran heaven for 10 loops and it didn't shows any crashes, black screens, artifacts, or blue screens.

While I was waiting for my replacement, I played tf2 with a gtx 560 and noticed some similar issues but not as noticeable as the gtx 970.

Sorry that i wasn't being clear. :(

That right there tells us its your install of the game, your NVidia graphics card drivers install or the driver itself is causing conflicts or its some combo of both. Are you using Precision or Afterburner? Or both? Any other gpu/cpu/pc monitoring/overclocking software? What Nvidia driver are you using and did you install everything in the NVidia driver package like GeForce expierence, 3d stuff etc?!?!? Did you setup the global settings under the NVidia control center or are you using defaults?!?

As for driver installs, I first used DDU to clean out drivers and shut down my pc and swapped my gtx 560 for a replacement 970 and installed the latest drivers. I always unselect GeForce experience, 3D vision, and hd audio and select only physx and graphics driver with clean install select. Note that I didn't have afterburner installed at the time. After I installed the drivers, I installed afterburner and I used it for auto fan control as well as using HWmonitor and GPUZ for temp monitor. As for Nvidia Control Settings, I used default settings.

Oh and btw, I used the latest install drivers. Anything else other than conflict drivers?

Since the driver conflicts may be the cause, I'm wondering if there's a 100% way to make the cleanest install? In the past, I use driver sweeper and DDU.

Also, Do you think it might be my PSU is to blame? I mean, mines corsair tx 750 and I had it for 3.5 years.

Again, I'm sorry if I jumped to conclusions. I really wish someone would help me out on this.

Reinstall windows for the cleanest install possible. If your PSU was the cause you would be getting other symptoms that would be pointing to your PSU as being the issue.

Oh ok. I'll try that....problem is that my is is on the ssd and I would need to secure erase. That means I'm going to set up over precision all over again.

Right now I'm playing TF2 and I'm getting flickering textures in viaduct pro spawn....at least I didn't experience a crash. I'm guessing it's the drivers....I'm not sure.

Bump! I decide to test OC Scanner on the replacement card, and somehow it didn't produced artifacts on the core burner (running at 256x256). Next, I tried to test on the memory burner 3 gb but it crashed as soon as it loads. That never happened on my first gtx 970. At least 2gb memory burner works and currently it didn't show any artifacts.

I checked OC scanner logs and it shows OpenGL error no enough gpu memory for fur texture (23). Somehow it works at 256x256 but when loading on native resolution, it crash ad says "OC Scanner has stopped working".

So thats out of the way, I guess I'll roll back to whichever version included on the Evga driver CD.

Edit:. I tried downclocking the replacement card then launched team fortress 2 and the artifacts become less frequent than it was at stock, but it still shows up. Guess I got an another bad card, huh?

Update prior to the problem. What I said about underclocking the GPU, well, the artifacts are still there when I underclocked to lowest it can go. So that didn't work.

On Monday before 347.52 was released, I played team fortress 2 around an hour and I experienced a driver crash, which made me close it through task manager. After that, it has not happen since. I was using msi afterburner when that happen. No overclocking, but I use it for automatic fan profile. The next day, I updated the 347.52 drivers since the release but that made me feel kinda scared to play tf2 or any games, thinking it might crash again, but who am I kidding. :(

As for determine the fault of the gpu, the only way I'll try to test was taking my gpu to my bros place where he has a rig not to long ago. I'll update on the outcome when I get a chance.

If it was me, i wouldn't place it inside anti-static bag/plastic clam shell. the person who removes the card might miss it. I would put the lose S/N sticker in an envelope and place it inside the bag or clam shell. Less likely for it get lost when someone opens the clam shell or pulls the card out from static bag.

That's all you would need is for someone else to lose it and blame you for it not being in the box.
