Just thought I'd share how these things look once installed.  I opted for the white tops with black coated Copper.

Great work Nateman and thanks again!

Whoops!

Edited.  Hopefully pic loads now.

Also the stock noisy X-Fan cooler was keeping my southbridge at about 65ºC at load.  Your waterblock has kept it around the 50ºC mark.

Man, that did work out well.  I had no idea what you were planning, but it does look great.  I like the look of white in a PC build.  Seems like the PC work tends to favor blue lights, or in EVGA's case - red.  Is that white fluid, or white tubes?  Looks like fluid

Thanks!  The tubes are clear with Mayhems Pastel UV White fluid.

Yeh I really wanted to keep everything black and white but for some reason my particular purchase of the SuperSSpeed SSDs I used for my RAID were shipped in a special edition "Tweaktown Blue".  I'll get a piece of white plexi and cover the visible blue bits whenever I decide to tinker further.

For now I'll let my thumbs recover from the damn compression fittings....

Hey is it to late to get in on this batch? If you could pm me your email it won't let me send you a pm. I assume it's probably because I haven't used this forum very much.

Yeah, I think I signed up when I built my desktop. I'm currently active duty on a submarine so I don't get much time anymore.

Sorry for the lack of updates.  I have been very busy.  This current batch is almost complete.  Had a custom order for a 100% copper version:

First machine cuts:

filled in, and sanded:

Finally, bead blasted:

Re:ASRock X79 Extreme 11 Waterblock (TONS of PICS) 2015/03/12 11:09:28 (permalink)
Hi!

I finally got my blocks installed (had to wait extremely long for the delivery of some of the other parts for my setup), but I'm having leak problems on the chipset block. The Vreg block seems fine so far, but the chipset block has severe leakage from several places. It may seem like that the gasket solution used is insufficient.

I'm suspecting that my usage of cooling fluid may require a higher grade of sealing than regular water (which I assume is used during leak tests after production), as my initital test setups where plain water was used did not show any signs of trouble. I'm using Aquacomputer's Dual Protect Ultra, which is glycol based. None of my other blocks, connections or components seem to be affected, just the chipset block so far. But a cooling block used for PC watercooling should, imho, also manage the use of common cooling fluids used, not just plain water. And glycol based fluids are not uncommon.

I removed the block from my setup, blocked one connection, connected a hose to the other and filled it with cooling fluid. With no pressure added there is no leakage, but when I squeeze the hose a bit to add pressure, there is highly visible leakage from several points around the block from between the copper bottom and the delrin top.

I was wondering if anyone else using this block has experienced anything similar, or if anyone is using similar cooling fluids without any issues? It may be hard to detect in the beginning, as glycol has a low electric condutivity, and does not act the same way as water.

Also, does anyone have any ideas on how to improve the sealing, without damaging the block or permanently sealing it?

Nate:
Do you have any ideas or tips?
May a different type of top make the sealing more efficient?
Can the gasket be replaced to improve sealing?

The gasket used seemed very thin to me, with a very low height difference from the rest of the block, which might not give a high enough pressure on the gasket itself. I opened the block to inspect it for defects when I spotted the leaks, but there seem to be no appearant problems, other than that the thin delrin top is unable to provide a high enough pressure to give a proper seal when used with such a thin gasket. I am no expert, so these are just my opinions from what I can observe from my point of view.

I would appreciate ANY ideas or tips that may help, as the chipset block is one of the most important components to my setup. Without it, I will have to use the standard cooling fan, which alone makes more noise than all the other fans removed from the system alltogether.

Re:ASRock X79 Extreme 11 Waterblock (TONS of PICS) 2015/03/13 10:45:27 (permalink)
Never mind the glycol theories. I did the same test with water instead of DP Ultra in the block, with the same leakage as results. I was probably just lucky during my initial testing with water. With all the components mounted together in the setup there are probably a pressure differences in parts of the loops as all the blocks have different flow resistance. Most of the initial tests were done with just one or a few blocks in a single loop, while my complete setup consists of many blocks in semi-parallell loops and dual pumps.

However, I can't live with a block that starts to leak at the slightest increase in pressure, so I need this issue solved before being able to complete my installation.

Shoot me an email and I will take care of it.  Every block is thoroughly leak tested.  Ive been using the same gasket materials for years, EPDM.

I've been saying this to myself too :)  I'm hoping the S6 with OIS will finally be decent enough to scratch that itch.
