I have tried to update to 344.75 driver twice and both times my screen goes black.  I wind up having to re-install 340.52.  Is this something only happening to me or is this a problem for a few?  If so is there a fix?  thanks

Most issues are posted on the driver release sticky, so people can find the issue quick and easy. How long does it go black before you restart? Are you uninstalling old driver prior to installing this one? Are you using custom install and only using the PhysX and driver or are you installing all of the unnecessary stuff too?

I don't install any of the 3D drivers or the Experience software. I do a clean install and when it downloads near the end the screen goes black then the computer restarts then goes black again, this will continue till I finally just go into 'safe mode with networking' and re-install 340.52 and all is well again,  I don't get it.

Remove the 9800gt and try again. Let me know how it works.

I am pretty sure all support for 200 series and prior cards has been dropped, so it is probably throwing a lot of hate at the 9800gt.

Definitely send an update. I am hoping it works. The removal of the card won't cause a major impact on PhysX based games. It has been shown that you need a card of the same lower to able to gain the most PhysX benefit overall. I used a 750ti with 780tis, and it did nothing to help.

There was one user that had 5 titans.. 4 in SLI, so he used a PCI riser to utilize the 5th for PhysX (talk about silly overkill) and that was when he finally noticed a difference in PhysX based games. Anything smaller than the strongest card didn't leverage enough gain to be beneficial unfortunately.

I'll probably just remove the 9800GT for good, I just find it hard to let go sometimes....  I'll definitely let you know.

you really don't need a phyx card with those 660 ti I tried to dedicate a 560 ti sc when I had my two 660tis and it lowered my performance. they do better with out PhysX and set PhysX on auto don't dedicate anything for the job.

Well I guess the verdict is in, "Get rid of the 9800" I hope it will help with the driver update.  I wish I could remove it now but, I am in the middle of something else.  Thanks again for all the input.

You will notice that a 9800 GT is no longer supported in drivers newer than 340.52, providing you read what's in the list of Supported Products (and the Release Notes) of the drivers..All 9 series (and some others) cards are no longer supported in drivers 344.11 and newer..That is the problem, lose it..The 9800 GT will absolutely destroy your PhysX score anyway when used with your 660Ti's like rsabatino said..Please always read the Release Notes of a driver first before installing or when having a problem, there are Known Product Limitations and Open Issues with every release.

344.65 driver worked better for my 2x 770 Sli set up versus the 344.75. Try that one

Re: Having trouble with Nvidia 344.75 driver. 2014/12/20 18:48:17 (permalink)
(I just read this interesting post, and it is also probably the answer to my problem...)

I have an odd setup : 3x780ti + Quadro FX3700 (=9800). Dual boot :
- desktop : SLI and surround deactivated, FX3700 activated (need OpenGL certified GPU/drivers)
- gaming : SLI and surround activated, FX3700 deactivated

I couldn't get the newer *GeForce* drivers to install, and had exactly the same issue. Deactivating the old G92 GPU in device manager did'nt help as it is re-detected and re-activated at boot time (GeForce and Quadro share many DLLs).

I stick with 337.xx drivers because NVIDIA dropped nvcuvenc.dll and nvcuvenc32.dll (old CUDA drivers replaced with nvcuda32.dll and nvcuda64.dll from 340.xx). These DLLs are needed by many older apps, and I didnt see any difference between 337 and 340.

I am seriously considering replacing the old FX3700 with a newer cheap Quadro (Quadro 420 or 600 or 620 for example), but I do not know if it will work with the GTX...
