Sorry if this is not a mobo issue, but thought I would ask anyway.  I just built a new rig with all EVGA parts and for some reason the primary hard drive, the only hard drive installed, is showing up in Windows 7 as a removable media device.  I've never seen this happen before on any other computer.  The hard drive is an HGST Enterprise 2TB drive. I have the sata cable connected to the Intel controller.

Is this normal?  If not, how should I solve?

Intel 4790k
1xEVGA GTX 980 Hydro Copper
EVGA Z97 FTW
Corsair Dominator 8GB (2x4GB running XMP1)
Thermaltake Armor+ LCS (liquid cooling both CPU and GPU)
Creative Fatality Titanium PCI (Driver 2.17.007)
XFX Black Edition 1000W Platinum Plus rated PSU
Dell U3011 primary monitor and HANNspree second monitor
HGST Enterprise HD 2TB

This is usually related to the drive itself; and it may show as removable if the port is set as a Hot Swap port. To test, you could turn off hot swap and see if that causes Windows to see the drive as non-removable. If that doesn't work, you could set the port from AHCI to IDE, but that may cause Windows to blue screen when it loads.

Yeah, as stated above, I would disable hot swap on that SATA port in your motherboard BIOS.  That usually clears up that "issue".

Oh interesting.... hot swap.  Is it a jumper switch or a BIOS setting?
