I have a SC 98GTX with DVI monitors. I was told in another post that I can use a DVI to DP converter.

When I start with 1 monitor on DVI it starts fine.

I restart with 1 monitor on DVI and another with Displayport and it moves Display #1 to the Displayport monitor (black) and Display #2 to the DVI monitor.

Is there a way to give it priority to the DVI adapter? How can I get it to allow me to see the NVIDIA multiple display menus?

If you right click on your desktop, you should see "Nvidia Control Panel" in the box that comes up.  Select that to enter the NVCPL.  Once in there, select "Setup Multiple Displays" in the Tasks section.

From there you can move displays around to your config and select the one you want as your primary display.

thanks, but that's the thing I can't see the nvidia control panel because Display 1 is now dark and not active or available at all.
I am trying to make Display 1 active using Displayport. The Displayport isn't active at all.

If I boot with just that plugged in, it doesn't show any video at all, even POST.

Display 2 is visible but I cannot see anything but the background image.

What are the makes and models of your monitors?  And their native refresh rates? 60, 120, 144Hz etc...

23" Dell monitors probably 60Hz, I can't recall the model off the top of my head, but they were running the 680GTX with dual DVI.

Since you're able to have everything working with a single monitor on the DVI port, set it up that way and do a "clean" reinstall of the latest driver.

Then retry your setup the way you want to see if that takes care of it.

I will try that tonight, I had initially done that but then applied the latest driver when it wasn't working.

Shouldn't the DP show up during POST and boot if it was just the only thing plugged in?

You could also try to use an HDMI to DVI cable instead of a DisplayPort to DVI cable.

Apparently the 900 series has nothing but problems on DisplayPort for many people, so this workaround might obviate that.

Specs: x79 Sabertooth ASUS mobo, Intel i7 3930K CPU, 64 GB RAM, GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Hybrid GPU, 512 Samsung SSD, 2 TB WD HDD, Sound Blaster Z Soundcard, Corsair tx850W PSU.

I would think if everything was working correctly and a good driver install, yes.  Other than some possible issue(s) like mentioned above in post #8, it should work that way.

I got the wrong part from Bestbuy, male HDMI to male DVI instead of female DVI I ordered it from Amazon and will try it on Friday when it arrives.

While you're waiting for your HDMI adapter, you could give the new beta driver a test run.  It was just released a day or two ago.  I think I read something about some display port fixes.  Not sure it will apply to your issue or not.

I tried the new driver. I guess I can try the beta driver.

I tried with an HDMI to DVI adapter. Same thing. The screen POSTS to the DVI screen, boots windows DVI screen, gets to 2 monitor and monitor 1 is the HDMI which is in sleep mode or not sending any signal. The DVI is monitor 2. I cannot see the NVIDIA control panel to swap or make any changes because it opens on display 1 which is off.

Hmm...  Now that you have both HDMI to DVI and DP to DVI adapters,  Why don't you try using both of them and eliminate the DVI port on your card altogether.  See what that does for you.
