Hey,
So I just now received my SuperNOVA 1000 P2 PSU from superbizz. I opened up the box, looking to install it in my new case, and as I pulled it out of the box I heard a rattling sound, as if there was a loose piece of metal or plastic (like a small screw or something) that was freely moving inside the PSU. I tried to move it around so that I could get it to either fall out or get close enough to the vents so I could see what it was. I'm not going to have all the parts for this PC for at least another week or two, but I don't want to sit on the PSU if it's busted and miss my chance to RMA it.

Is a rattling noise normal? More importantly, even if it isn't normal, should I just RMA it anyways (or go through you guys at EVGA if the warranty covers it)? I dropped $200.00 on this and the thought of it dying in a month because of something broken off inside of it is quite unsettling. Even the thought of something moving around inside is unsettling, regardless of if it affects the PSU (though I'd still keep it if it was functional). I want to try the paper clip test to see if the PSU even works, but I'm not sure where the green pin is on the motherboard cable so I have no idea if the PSU works or not. Sadly I think an RMA through superbizz (took them ten days to even start "processing", another week to ship) will push back my build date by a month or so. What do you guys recommend I do?

I appreciate the very brief answer. So the rattling sound is, in fact, completely abnormal? Should I send it back to superbizz or can I send it to EVGA? I would really like a quick turn around so I can get this up and running this month.

Abnormal for sure. Looks like you won't be getting it up and running this month no matter where you send it. http://www.evga.com/holiday/

I'll probably call them tomorrow then and setup an RMA. I appreciate the answers. Still hoping one of the EVGA staff can comment on this (though I'm sure they'll say the same thing). Happy holidays.

Would you be able to trade it with superbizz? Rattling definitely isn't normal, as Sajin said.

Hopefully it gets taken care of quick.

Yeah I mean I just read a couple of things about their (superbiiz) RMA procedure and people's experiences. One guy said he RMA'd a DOA hard drive, and that they sent him one with 3 day shipping before he even sent his back. The only potential downside I see to the process is that if they "test" the product and deem it not broken, they just ship it back to you.

Hopefully I can explain to them the issue of the rattling, and hopefully whatever is floating around inside of there doesn't get lodged somewhere and stop rattling, because I would assume they'd want to reproduce the issue. The shipping box itself was immaculate, not even a dent. Must just be a manufacturing issue or it got shaken severely during shipping. Either way, I guess I'll see.

I would call evga and see if they will do a free cross-ship for you. If they won't do it for free, i would call superbizz and see if they will send out a new one with a shipping label to send defective unit back. If supperbizz wants you to pay shipping. I would just ask for a product return label or # to put on the outside of the box that will allow you to return it for a refund.

    Something drop in PSU probably.
Only because of that is risk to hold PSU with grill on the top.
Sometimes if you hold some screw could drop in PSU and make damage.
I always think about that and keep one thing peace of sponge and cover mesh during clean.
