Isn't it a prologue?  It's amazing that they can get away with selling it separately.  I tried it on PS3 a while ago, it's already more open than any of the previous games but still really basic and AI is too predictable.  It still feels like a console game.  Anyone that buys a prologue or demo deserves to be disappointed though.

Yeah, it was like that Gran Turismo Prologue that I bought a long time ago... I was disappointed... I learned my lesson.

Selling shareware? I would rather pay full price for a full game than to have to pay for something I don't know if I want - that's the point of a demo version - to test the game locally and to make a judgement call if I should contribute money.

Why bother with a demo at all if it's worth money?

It can actually be done in under 5 minutes.

I'd consider it at 5 bucks, because I want to see what it looks like on my 980... but I don't care.

Except for the 980 part, this is my standpoint for Crysis 2 and Crysis 3.  I'd buy either of them for $5 as a tech demo.  But this Metal Gear prologue isn't worth $5 as a tech demo, save it for the games with groundbreaking graphics.

I got it just to see since it was on sale at steam (5 bucks off). Bought it to check out the graphics and it's just meh there. Looks like a PS4 port IMO. Supposedly it has native 4k support (no haz 4k monitor so IDK)... but sadly DSR doesn't work with this game even though they have the "Nvidia the way it's meant to be played" splash screen...

Furthermore, the FPS is either locked at 30 (if you turn the in game vsync on) or 60 (with vsync "off"). At the least it was impossible to drop below 60FPS on my rig with "ultra" settings.... right? Heh.

Oh and my final grapical gripe is that I can't view this at 2560x1080. I'm stuck using a 16:9 aspect ratio (or 4:3 since that's still apparently a selectable aspect ratio for some reason).

Keep in mind I only played about 15 minutes of the actual game. That said the movement fluidity, level detail, and controls are all very good (using an XB360 controller). I'm also sure the actual game play will be awesome as it always is with these titles, so in this respect it's a good game (demo?).

Sadly if you want this is a tech demo, look elsewhere unless you have a 4k monitor and really want to see how this looks.

it was nice that it was on sale for the first day of the steam sale. After you beat it once you get a bunch of side missions.

no problem running it in 4k (here are some videos below)

ROFL I just realized that I was hitting the 60FPS cap with a single 970. I forgot to enable SLI after updating drivers. Needless to say this isn't super gfx intintensive.

It almost looks like Far Cry 3 as far as graphics quality. I agree paying $20 for a demo is absurd.

Yeah they should offer the demo gratis, and reap the benefits later when all the ones who enjoyed it throw there money at retail.

How old are you? You sound like you don't even know what it used to be like... BF and an Expansion was a whole other experience, or significantly more content. Now, you pay 20 bucks for 3 new maps... Companies try to get you to pay for their demos. The good old days are over because kiddies don't know them and buy everything without evaluating the true value of something.
