AMD is apparently set to release their next set of graphics card in summer of 2015.
Codename was changed from pirate islands to caribbean islands to sound more tropical I guess

Anyway.. This might pressure Nvidia to launch GTX990's sooner.
stay tuned..

Not for me on the 990 that is, I went with 3 980 HC because I did not want to wait another 6 to 8 months for at least the HC version.
So for me I will wait to see what the next generation.
As the cycle start over once more for over priced AMD Cards best to wait.

Overpriced? In relation to what, nvidia charging $1000 for a chip tier that was $500 a few years ago? Or are you annoyed that AMD actually called out places like newegg when they were gouging on the R9 cards after miners started taking all the stock?

Amd has done lots of stuff, but they are far from having bent their customers over the table and reamed them like Nvidia did with this and the last generation.

Hmm The R9 390X would be on my hit list for Wants for sure, I'd Use it with my existing R9 29)X,as when using Mantle API, it makes all ALU's one that support it, this means CFX is never of need
Something I don't see NVIDIA doing yet, as that NVIDIA does not have an own API like Mantle, they do have CUDA , but CUDA still requires DriectX to play along as where Mantle Doesn't, it would be an idea for NVIDIA to make NVGlide or so, as they bought over 3dfx Interactive, it may happen once Mantle advances, which it most likely will.

If someone doubt in news about performance of GM200 and Bermuda XT I only can advice to immediately forget that something is not true.
Only I think difference will be bigger on AMD side than reviews want to present. Because of that they didn't show nice performance in every resolution.
But who dominate in 4K, he dominate and in 2560x1440, smaller difference is in 1920x1080 but still is same and on any other resolution.
I expect even to NVIDIA launch card maybe before AMD because they have weaker chip or to turn to dual solution before AMD decide to do that with 20nm. It's hard to believe that NVIDIA could make big step forward before 20nm production and new memory.
Maybe some card with huge power consumption 12GB video memory but AMD have much more space for Bermuda XT revision if they first enter in lower process.
AMD was far far behind NVIDIA during 2012, they had only 7970 and NVIDIA had GK110 in hand. Now after 2-3 years, NVIDIA still give us performance with baby spoon and sell us same performance as GK110 only slower memory and less memory than Titan. Such politic give AMD space to improve performance and they will not wait NVIDIA.

So this mean you can use Mantle to SLI a 290X and 390X together ?

is there any info if AMD improved their VCE Engine?

I am considering using it as I heard it has much better image quality (less artifacts and banding) on low bitrates which is usefull when livestreaming.

AMD fans celebrate win over GM200 before cards are launched.  And they have reason if rumors are true. When we remember Titan vs HD7970 and what will happen for few months that's same as some time have advantage 5:0 in first half of match and other team win in second with 6:5.
I saw many jokes about NVIDIA fans and baby spoon performance dosing. Every spoon 500$.
ATI had better picture during 2004-2005-2006 than GeForce. I thought in one moment people are blind if they don't recognize.
That experience was like on same resolution NVIDIA use 20% less resolution, but settings are same.
