Which card do you have the ti or KP? What temps are you running when playing?

Spoke too soon. I thought these were game stable. Playing COD ghost for over 30 min = crashes. Tried on a few other games also. Now hawken crashes within a couple min. Put the GTX 690 back in and she is good to go. I have sent ChrisB an Email for the new Bios. I need something thats stable now.

No response from ChrisB - sent him a note last week on Thursday and followed up today. EVGA should investigate a better way to do this. :)

Is the optional BIOS the same BIOS for the 780 TI KPE and the 780 TI Classy?

Who do i need to make contact to get the optional/up to date bios? Allready sent mail to chrisb last week as suggested on opening post, but havent heard anything back from him. I have 780 Ti classified hydro copper and now im just stuck with it, my voltage seems to be locked at 1.187v max, which really isnt enough for any prober OC. Max game stable clocks i can get out of it are around 1215mhz @ 1.187v which is rather sad, specially as my old reference card ( 780ti SC ACX ) with EK block was game stable @ 1228mhz 1.175v.

Edit: Got mail from Chrisb with the link to optional bios. Is that only to replace the stock LN2, or is there updated bios for "stock" bios aswell?

Re: Optional BIOS for GTX 780 Ti Classified and GTX 780 Ti Classified K|NGP|N cards 2014/12/25 03:44:35 (permalink)
Today finally tried to replace the stock LN2 bios with the optional updated bios, but the update doesnt seem to work for me on some reason.

Did as suggested on instructions at the secure link send my ChrisB. Downloaded 2888_Update.zip, extracted the zip to dekstop, but now when i click the update.exe it just opens command prompt window for split second, which then closes on its own and doesnt do anything.

Any help/tips?

Just ran it myself and worked like a charm (for both cards) ... I copied the 3 files to "my documents" and ran the exe from there

Damn this is annoying, really cant figure out why it doesnt work for me. I thought the file might be corrupt or something, but yesterday ChrisB sent new link to me and still doing same thing with new files :(

Took video with my phone to show what it does (well actually doesnt do)

Tried to run it with administrator, start the Update.exe directly with command prompt and nothing works :(

Johnny, I am not sure if it will help, but reboot and try to run windows in Safe Mode, to see if it will work.

What is probably going on is the pcie slots are not what the install script wants so it opens then closes. You may have more than one card like me and that also could be the problem. I had to do it manually and pass a -flag to change my ln2 bios updates to the right pcie slots. I don't remember the exact command and it would probably be wrong for your set up anyway but you need to google NVflash and commands to view all the extra options so that you can use nvflash to read your pcie slots then pass along the right flag to do the flash.

what is your rig's specifications (ie: OS, RAM, MoBo, CPU, etc.,)  Also, are you trying to flash this to a 780 Ti and not a normal 780?  (Make sure, because it may be triggering a fail-safe.)

Also, does it work with other modded BIOSes such as Skyn3t's BIOSes?

Rig is:

Gigabyte Sniper M3
i7 3770K
4x4GB 1600mhz CL8
EVGA 780 TI Classified Hydro Copper
Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD + 3Tb HDD
Seasonic 660W XP2
Win 7 Ultimate x64

So yes i have 780ti. I did try skynet v2 bios (which is based to this "optional evga bios") while ago and it flashed fine. But i would much rather have original evga bios as im not kind of person that likes to use those customer tweaked bios versions for daily usage. All i would want to get the card up to 1.2v so could get little boost to my daily OC.

Re: Optional BIOS for GTX 780 Ti Classified and GTX 780 Ti Classified K|NGP|N cards 2015/01/06 02:44:53 (permalink)
I find it rather annoying when I drop about $1800 usd for two of these cards that come with horrible stock and ln2 bios, and that was well over a year ago. As several have already mentioned, the voltage hits a rather low ceiling. The update makes it stable like a reference card, but it is still far from satisfactory due to low voltage/power limits. Evga designed and marketed these cards for OCing, and they simply don't out of the box, or even with the optional bios. I don't know if the KP Edition received the same cold shoulder as the Classified Hydrocoppers, but it's sad that we must turn to unofficial consumer altered versions (such as skyn3t) to get even a mild OC that your reference cards can exceed on stock bios and air cooling. So you can imagine, a high OC absolutely requires an unofficial bios. It's been a year since this optional bios came out, and it took a long time for it to come along in the first place. Should we just accept that there will be no official solution for this inherently defective, or at the very least, falsely advertised product?

My friends with lesser air-cooled cards can OC higher and produce higher framerates for far less cost and headache. I've been a loyal customer for years:gtx 480> Quad sli 7950 GX2>sli 8800 GTS> sli 670 FTW. Sadly, now I can only recommend non-premium evga products. The lack of functionality, support, and follow up on these Classified 780 TI Hydrocoppers has been insulting.

Just got reply from ChrisB.

Apparently the updated bios isnt for Hydro Copper and hence why the update isnt loading, part number of normal 780 ti classy is 2888 while HC is 2889. This is rather silly as the card is exatly same as normal classy, just equipped with waterblock instead of aircooler.
