So I got the newer 3Dmark-Firestrike from steam for ten bucks and ran some Benches.
I scored a 15,000 with three R9 290 cards and a i7 3820 all at stock speeds (on water).
After playing around with the OC setting on the video card I managed a stable 15% OC. I got my 3820 from 3.6 to 4.3ghz.
Ran a new test and got my score up to 18,494: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/3340980
L
ooks to be the highest or one of highest Trifire 290 bench runs on 3Dmark.

Not too bad, thought it would be more though.

Here's the system

16gb G.skill DDR3 2133
(3) XFX R9 290

Nice looking build, and a solid score.  Tri-Fire...traitor

Now it's time to really start cranking up the clocks!

Nice, im up and running on my 3 760's. And i also got 3dMark this weekend. I managed 13,472 on Firestrike. I can only manage about +165 on core and +325 on memory. Wish i could overvolt with software more than 12mv since I'm on water. My 5930k is begging for some more GPU speed.

When I get the chance I will try to OC better. All I did was increase the OC rate to 15% without adjusting the max power.
If anyone has a good OC guide for AMD cards that would be great.

Literally just installed two EVGA 970s. 100% stock clocks on the cards, my i5 is mildly OCd to 4.2ghz. Stock memory clocks/timing. Basically a dry run. Hope to get that into the 16K range with a little OCing.

    Awesome!
    Thanks for the link!

I am no stranger to OCing CPUs, however this is the first time I have had any success with GPUs.
I got my i7 920 to OC to 5.0ghz and my X965 to 4.8. Also got my AMD Phenom II x4 965 to aroun 3.8-4.0
Loads of fun when you're board at night.

If I can get my year old video cards to 18k you can get your new cards to 16 with no problems. Good luck!

Seth89 I think it's time to abandon that red surrogates for smooth gaming on GeForce.

Thank you for that. I'm new to this specific benching program and am unfamiliar with how much an OC related to potential gains in points.

Yeah I'm not to sure yet. I always use EVGA/Asus Green cards but this last time around I was curious about team red and the low price was very attractive too. I have been very impressed with the R9 cards so far ( was and still is shocking for me given their driver history in the past). I actually find myself excited about the 300 cards coming soon, I'm even holding out for a Samsung Adaptive-sync monitor in March.
So in other words I will be building Red for awhile. They need the support lol.

Be careful with Firestrike... It becomes VERY addicting... It leads to FS-E and FS-U, that leads to HWBot, and then you are in trouble :-D
