Greetings:

I recently purchased an 850 G2.  It comes with two 8 pin EPS cables (8 pin on PSU end) that have 4+4 pins on the other side.  My question is this-- my motherboard has an 8 pin  in.  Can I plug the two 4+4 ends into the 8 pin formatted slot, or do I need a different cable?  I haven't done a build for years and am worried about screwing up the power.

My board is an Asrock X99 OC Formula. It takes both an 8 pin 12 V AND a 4 pin 12v for the CPU. My understanding is that both need to be populated.

Second question-- do I then run the second 8 pin cable to the 4 pin in on the mobo and only plug in one side of the 4+4 for that one?

Many thanks in advance for any insight.  This is the only part of my build that is holding me up.

yes the 4+4 pins are for the MB, if they are not, they will not fit into the socket. Double check the pin shapes to confirm though,. use 4+4 on one and only the 4 on the other.

That's right..Plug both 4-pin connectors of one 4+4 EPS cable into the mobo's 8-pin ATX 12V1, and only the 4-pin part of the other 4+4 EPS cable into the mobo's 4-pin ATX 12V2.

Thank you both so much.  I figured that was the answer, but that one can never be too cautious, especially with my most $ build to date.

Finished the build last night.  With your help answering the above questions, it went without a hitch.

Thanks again.
