hi guys,

can someone bring some light upon the warranty situation of the backplates?
I ordered a GTX 970 backplate for my newly bought GTX 970 FTW.

as soon as I registered the backplate and uploaded the invoice I saw the following statement:
Warranty Information:
This product is out of its warranty period.

hmm, the reason a new product could be out of warranty is it's sold without any.
is that right?

I didn't even know you could register a backplate.

It has not working parts, so aside from bending, it wouldn't need a warranty.

well, I don't know what the requirement at EVGA looks like for the warranty.
there are so many products out there with no working parts but still under warranty.

I bought my GTX760 backplate here from a local online store and they have to give 2 years warranty per law.
so who is giving this warranty actually if not EVGA?! wired situation, right?

same about mouse pads, no working parts but still with warranty here - 2 years.
how about EVGA ones, warranty or no warranty?!

I just want to clarify the topic for myself as the information from different sources is misleading.

Yeah, I'm not sure. That whole EU warranty requirement for things that don't do anything.

I understand the mouse pad which gets where and tear using a mouse, but the only way to damage a backplate is bending in shipping or installing it wrong. Shipping would be covered with insurance and doing physical damage would void any idea of a warranty.

I don't know... Submit a support ticket for it and see what they say.

yes, the EU warranty understanding is a bit different.
that's why I thought I'll try with a thread here instead of bothering the support right away.

It looks like the back plates have a 1 year warranty against defects, but isn't reflected in the system yet. I've notified management to this and they'll take care of it as soon as they can.

That is interesting. Is that all EVGA's or EU? I don't have any defects out of 5 so far. :-)

Honestly, I only asked about US warranty on it -- I'll add the note to check for EU as well.

EDIT: It's the same in each territory, 1 year defect warranty. Not a lot that can go wrong with a backplate, but there you go, it's covered against defects.
