EVGA Z97 FTW - USB 3.0 Issue

I have a 1 TB WD Passport USB 3.0. I'm experiencing interrupts when transferring data. It disconnects/reconnects randomly. I have to click try again and repeat that until the data is transferred.
 
I've used my external drive with other 3.0 capable computers and it works fine. Thinking it must be the motherboard or a USB 3.0 cable issue. Any ideas?
 
I'll keep troubleshooting. I plan to add a 2nd SSD in RAID 0 soon so I will need to reinstall Windows 8.1 when I do that. Maybe it will be fixed at that point. I'm also getting a new case and will have new USB 3.0 cables for the front panel.

    Have you checked your usb setting in the bios?  Are you on a usb 2 or 3 port?  Did you install the intel usb drivers?

    First, I wanted to correct something. I have the Z87 FTW.
     
    It's working now. I am not sure what caused it or what fixed it. There are a lot of variables.
     
    I setup a RAID 0 using two SSDs, re-installed Windows 8.1, got a new case which has new USB 3.0 ports. It's working great now.

    The very same thing happened to me when I had the z87 ftw and I rma'd the board however I wouldn't suggest that you do that unless things get worse.  I also switched my kb and mouse from the 2 to 3 ports and the issue stopped.  I had so many issues with the z87 and 97 ftw's that I just came off them completely.
