I've never posted a rig here before, but in my gaming clan, we have a rig section and I'm on my 4th complete build over the last 5 years. As I change things in this machine, it'll go to V4.1, 4.2, etc. My gaming name is Maximus and this machine in my Prime, hence the name MaximusPrime. I'm sure you didn't care about any of that, but I wanted to give some back story to the title. :D

My machine isn't as extreme or as beautiful as a lot of the rigs posted here, but I thought I'd share anyway. I focus my machines on "bang for buck." IE, do I personally need the ROG or Classified type boards that come with a ton of extras that I don't/won't use? Nope. I never do more than 2 way SLI and my over clocks are mild in comparison to the extreme clocks out there. With that in mind, I jumped into X99 and without further ado, here she is. I apologize for the poor picture quality.

Here's the new parts..., the only things coming from my previous build are the drives and sound card.

- Corsair 16gb DDR4 2666MHz.
- Intel Core i7 5930K currently running at 4.582GHz.
- Asus X99-A motherboard.
- 2 X EVGA GTX 980 SC with ACX 2.0 cooler, in SLI. Not overclocked, yet.
- EVGA SuperNOVA P2 1000 watt PSU.
- Corsair H110 cooler.
- Corsair Obsidian 450D case.
- Creative Soundblaster Z sound card.
- Samsung 850 and 830 SSDs (256/120 GB respectively).
- WD Caviar Blue HDD 250 GB.

Back plates installed on the 980s.

CPU and memory installed on board.

Motherboard in case.

SSDs installed in back of case.

H110 installed. This was the hardest part to install.

Video cards installed.

Pretty much everything installed, just need to clean up the wiring a bit. I didn't realize that the GPU power cables that came with the EVGA PSU were red, so I'm eventually going to swap them out with the sleeved cables that EVGA offers.

First power on! It wouldn't POST for some reason, and after about an hour of pulling my hair out, I discovered that I had the CPU pump plugged into the wrong header. :)

And here she is all buttoned up, chugging away. I still need to work on the wiring, because both case covers are bulging, but I wanted to get her running and tested. I'll be cleaning up the wiring later today. I also have a Pro SLI bridge coming from EVGA.

She easily went to and is stable at 4.5GHz. While I was gone all day yesterday, I let the Aid64 stress test run for about 12 hours without a glitch.

Alright, she's in there. I had a bear of a time getting pictures to upload, though. Once they were uploaded, they wouldn't transfer to their slots without breaking. Then I found that if I just fussed with the controls a little, like zooming out, they would transfer over. Weird.

Anyway, I'll update the pics when my new sleeved cables and pro sli bridge come in, and I really clean up the wiring.

The 5930k's seem to be super happy at 4.5GHz. I set mine to 1.35v and 45 multi and it didn't bat an eye. above that and I start having some issues, but I'm happy with 4.5 so I'll probably not mess with it again. Very nice build, wish I could have swung some 980's. They look so nice. +1 coming your way in a minute.

Thank you! Mine's running at 1.3V, so you may be able to bring that down a bit. I just tried 4.750 @ 1.35V, but she didn't like that, and I don't feel like tweaking it more tonight, so I put it back to where it was.

I did manage to get my Fire score up to 20799 with some graphics OCing.

I'll play with voltages tomorrow or Sunday. Supposed to go play with the Jeep tomorrow so that will set my schedule. I ran Fire strike for the first time on my machine today and was fairly happy with the 13,400 I scored with my 3 760's. They maxed out fairly quickly at +150 GPU clock, and +335 on the ram. But they are base 760's so I didn't expect much.

What temps are you seeing on your CPU? Just curious. I know mine will be different since I'm on a full loop.

Idle, all 6 cores are at 30C. When running the Aid64 test, they all averaged 65C, with peaks in the mid 70s.

Ok, I'm a bit lower, mid to upper 20's idle and low to mid 60's spikes to high 60's right around 70 or 71. I'm glad to see I'm in the right ball park with temps. Anyway, I'll leave you be, again very nice machine enjoy it.

I need to change default cables urgently.
Build is fantastic and probably perform same.
With sleeve cables is much much easier and user manual recommend direct connection without adapters and extensions if it's possible for best result. That mean default normal cables or EVGA Sleeve set.
