Anyone getting ghosting with high or higher graphics preset? Does not happen set to medium. guessing it is a setting or 2 that needs turned down just not sure what ones.

And add me to the list of can't play when it gets dark. Never should have let my buddy talk me into this at full price

ILikeBeans
So, I have version 1.3.0 Do any of you crakers have an FOV slider :)

it is in the advanced video settings

The Ghosting issue is caused by the SMAA. Go and change it to MSAA or off. I use FXAA from Nvidia Control Panel.

SMAA Causes Ghosting

SSBC Ambient Occlusion Causes Black Shadows, even during the daytime

thanks, will try it out in the morning

Ok. I fixed your ghosting problem. Now fix my black shadows. lol.

Re: Far Cry 4 2014/11/22 21:30:19 (permalink)
using far cry 3 sli bits in Nvidia Inspector eliminated my dark shadows/pitch black issue completely. However, I do see some objects flashing/flickering from time to time. I use HBAO+ as well which can cause dark shadows but the farcry 3 sli bits got rid of those for me. Now if I can only get rid of stuttering......

Did you see a substantial performance decrease using the Far Cry 3 bits?

Actually I think i saw my perf got up a bit (maybe 5-7 fps). I would say the only negative side of using Farcry 3 sli bits would be the occasional flashing/flickering objects. Also I am forcing 2 frames render ahead from NVCP and max frame buffer of 1 from gameprofile.xml. From my experience, I only get stuttering only when driving. Most of the time, when I am on foot or shooting, my gameplay is pretty much smooth. Hope this helps.

Far Cry 3 SLI bits gave me a small performance decrease. Game still stutters.

But black shadows are fixed, and SMAA works without ghosting.

Ill take the 3fps performance drop for those fixes.

@ Kidcrumb, also try these bits for both dx1x and regular bits. 0x080020F5. these seem to work a little better than the far cry 3 bits. Glad it got rid of those stupid pitch black shadows.

Still working on the stutter...

Which in my opinion shouldnt exist.

I have Vsync, Triple Buffering, and 8 Pre-Rendered Frames. How much more time and input lag does it need to smooth out the image?

Only fix can come from Ubi... Read up on Far Cry 3 and see if they ever fixed the issues... Tell me if they did and if you think they will this one?

Well I finally started playing the game. With all the people saying they have problems with it. I can say it looks beautiful, and no problems or glitches so far. Using driver 344.75. Very happy with the game.

It would be nice if Nvidia would team up with an actual PC developer for their free game deals... Instead of the typical console developers they team up with.

Agreed. A game that is being produced over the course of two years doesnt have good drivers? The amount of bugs PC games have had recently it unacceptable. Just because it will be patched later, doesnt mean you can slack on coding. I dont like making this comparison since its a little contrived at this point, but Crysis 1 was the most technologically advanced game at the time. It still looks amazing for a game thats 7 years old. Did it have any bugs on release? No. I played Crysis on my 7600GT at like...30fps on low/medium but it ran like a dream. No crashes, no pop ins, no shadow flickering, nothing. It was hard to run, but it ran perfectly. Even when the framerate jumped around, the game ran smoothly.

I get 60-80 fps in Far Cry 4 but it stutters, flickers, and crashes all the time.

Maybe people should just all use CryEngine...

Found out how to skip the intro, add -skipintro flag to launch options, takes you right to the log in screen

Unless you wanna play a game that has massive stutter issues so bad that you'll have to turn your settings down no matter how good your system is just to play a smooth game.

Then dont buy it

If they dont fix the stutter, im never buying another pc game from ubisoft.

Its a shame cuz its a really fun game otherwise.

There is fix for the stuttering in Far Cry 4 posted at Guru3D:

"Well, after some experimenting i found one way to get rid of this stuttering. First change graphics quality in game to "custom", then go to C:\Users\Master\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 4 and edit GamerProfile.xml file, change DisableLoadingMip0="0" to DisableLoadingMip0="1" . Stutter almost completely gone. I noticed that game now uses around 1700MB VRAM, and before that was around 2600MB. Not sure what is that setting for. Quick test shows no visual difference in game. Further testing required. Please report back your findings."

(Deleted for Foul Language) YOU ARE AMAZING!!! THAT COMPLETELY FIXED THE STUTTERING. I didnt test for long but i did a test prior to doing what you said and after and (Deleted for Foul Language) NO STUTTERING!!! The fps now stay at 60-90ish with my gtx 970!!! No more random drogs instantly into 40 from 70 thats what was causing stuttering but its gome now!!!

Yeah. It causes small decrease in performance. Lower a few settings, idk.

Right now I'm stuck at Shangri La. Game just keeps crashing midway through, but if load up my game, it starts me off with the cutscene where Im talking to Yogi and Reggie. And its a long...unskippable cutscene followed by a long, unskippable intro into Shangri La....

2xgtx770 sli, ultra settings.

when in sli:
30fps (fluctuates but averages 30)
usage: 50% 50%

when using one gpu
minimum 60fps
usage: ~80%

It's clear to me that even though Ubilol favor NVIDIA, they still have a lot of work to do for SLI compatibility...

Broke down and just set it to med preset, most of the stutter is gone. Frame rates are mostly steady.

Edit:
The stutter is from the textures being set above med. I have everything on ultra, textures on med, with 2xmsaa and triple buffering and no stutter now. Getting 65-80 fps

Are we supposed to guess what FOV slider does (increase/decrease)?.

What is the default FOV?.

Case: CM Elite 334.
PSU: Corsair CX 430.

Still have the dark shadows and some slight stutter.

Found out how to skip the intro, add -skipintro flag to launch options, takes you right to the log in screen

If you are using a single GPU, then do not use SSBC for Ambient Occlusion. Use SSAO or HBAO+

If you are in SLI, use the Far Cry 3 SLI Bits with Nvidia Inspector and that will fix the black shadows.

switched to the far cry 3 bits, fixed the black shadows but increased the stutter a bit. It's playable but still waiting on a real fix

I just set textures to med and left everything else on ultra and the stuttering is not noticeable at all. You can see it barely lag when driving at times, but nothing that is abnormally distracting like before. What a shame, the high textures made the game look really nice.

Speaking of FOV, I had the slider at 1080p when I changed it to surround the slider went away. Guess that makes me a pirate...
