So with all the waiting on Intel to bring about great new CPU hardware I kind of got disappointed with the X99 work. So again mainstream I go...
ASRock Z97 Extreme 9 - for a company that seems to be off a lot of peoples radar I've decided to ditch Asus for now and go with a brand that I can trust also. Three ASrock mobos in and they have not failed me yet.
Kingston Hyper X 8GBx2 1600MHz DDR3 - Ram is ram..
Intel G3258 - i7-4790k actually but gonna pick up both as the 3258 seems like a fun toy to play with once I get a ITX board for it.
Cooling will be handled by a H100i till I get custom loop going.
All going inside a Corsair 900D that's been sitting in the hallway since release date
So with that the PSU I'll be using a AX1200i but the main issue is what GPU should I go? The GTX 980 is just crushing it right now but nowhere are you gonna find the reference cooler for 549 (yes for some odd reason I'm jonesing for the stock cooler). Than you have the 970 which is even better performance for the dollar. Than you have the red team with the R9-290/X GPUs that are killing it in the money pit. For 300 dollars you just can't beat them...but I guess for 50 some odd more you could get close to GTX 970.
Anyways just looking for some input in what you guys would purchase right now. Black Friday sales have been lackluster and I expect Cyber Monday sales to be nothing special also. Hovering over the 980 Classified...go big or go home right?
