This crossguard wouldnt really work, because a lightsaber going downward would cut the crossguard off in this instance since its a lightsaber.

Guess it's just there for aesthetics then, like led case lighting. But the crossguard is a lightsaber also except for the outlet which most likely would be the point of impact as you stated, it has been 30 years maybe they found a metal that would be lightsaber proof.

The Sith guy is being a bit dramatic with his lightsaber deployment. Why is he so overly aggressive? Being dressed in all black isn't enough to signify he's evil so they made him angrily stab his lightsaber out?

I'm definitely looking forward to this movie, but I know better than to judge it from a ~80 second teaser. I don't think J.J. needs to try very hard to do better than the prequels, so that leaves at least some hope these will be decent.

That lightsaber looks lame and the soccer ball with an adobe after effects robot head done by an 8th grader that is supposed to be a droid looks dumb. The x wings over the water looked cool. I hate to be technical but how would the crossguard save Luke's hand? His hand was cut off with a strike that would not have been effected in any way with that stupid guard...Just sayn I can't believe all the drama over on IMDB about the color of the storm trooper. Dear lord, I mean Sam Jackson was black and he was a jedi. Racist retards on there.

Star Wars was never a Sci-Fi movie. Taking place in space and in the future doesnt mean science fiction. Its always been a traditional hero's journey. George Lucas himself describes it as more of a space western. Star Trek, on the other hand, was made as science fiction. And tries to be scientifically accurate in its technology.
