It depends on what all else you are running and how much overclocking you do. Even with some pretty heavy overclocks, my 2 780 classys and 3770K only pull about 700w from the socket. I would say that it will probably be fine, but you will have some low headroom. Most reviews put the the power consumption in the 450~ 500+ category. It all depends on what else you have.

Also, with regards to the 295x2, it does not behave with daisy-chained PCI-E cables.  What this means is, you have to run two separate PCI-E connectors from the PSU, up to the GPU, so if you have 1 8-pin (PSU) to 2 8-PIN (GPU area), you have to use one from it, ignore the other one, and relay a second cable up to it.  This is because daisy-chained connectors cannot handle the 500w that the 295x2 can pull.

so if it's 1:2, you need 2:4, if it's 1:1, you need 2:2 (8-pin connectors @ PSU to 8-pin connectors at GPU ratio).

I'm surprised someone here is still using GTX 200 series cards, you are gonna have problems with driver updates though, Nvidia stopped support for the 200 series just recently, the latest drivers only go back to 400 series.

I really like mine. All of them.
This way you can update your Video Cards and you are set. OR Are you taking about AMD R9 295x2 ?
If you are Taking about the R9 295x and you are getting two of them then NO 850 Watts is NOT enough
This is the PSU I use for my 2 R9 290X Graphics Cards.

oh they have R9 295's? lol sorry I was thinking GTX 295's

edit: ok I just looked it up, 295x2 is a single card, in that case yes a 850w G2 is enough.

Well we really don't know. The OP is so vague on what he is asking about.
Also I have seen the AMD R9 295x2 on sale on most web sites this passed week.
As low a $650 and as high as $1700

The 295x2 is a dual GPU single card. 850W will be ok, though not much headroom. He only said he was getting 1 295x2.

If only One Card and never a 2nd Card then Yes 850 Watts is enough.

I think R9-295X and need under full load about 750W and overclocked about 800W.
That will work but without space. Fan will work on full speed. Card cost almost 1000$.
Difference between 850G2 and 1000G2 less than 50$.

can't afford a new PSU and only reason I'm tempted to get a 295x2 is because they're on sale. I don't plan on overclocking the GPU and i may drop the CPU overclock to 4.2 as at 4.2 it will use less power than at stock.

Only don't overclock and you will have about 80W space example.
Maybe even 100. You will not hear fan of PSU because AIO system.
Tell us impressions of R9-295X if you upgrade.

From reading around on power consumption even with 2011 CPUs i will rarely go over 700w even with a moderate overclock on my CPU. Seems under gaming/benchmark load it vary s between 500-700w total system usage
