Oh and by the way the update replaced the NVIDIA drivers with the Microsoft NVIDIA video drivers so you have to reinstall the NVIDIA drivers.

I D/L'd and installed the new preview build.  Sure takes awhile (~30 min) for these updates.  I checked my graphics driver after the install completed.  No change there.  My drivers were the same as what I had previously. (344.48)

So I guess it pays to check first since it sounds like it can go either way...

Had More problems with build 9879 than I had with build 9860, Specifically concerning loading Futuremark Benching software and other associated programs (i.e., CPU-Z, HWMonitor, Precision X 4.2.1 and others).

Just thought I would try Windows 10 evaluation builds 9841, 9860 and 9879 JUST to see if they made any kind of difference in Benching Scores/Gaming, But this software has been more buggy/troublesome than I thought! (Yeah, I Know it's only an Evaluation version. )

If you have programs which aren't working properly you might need to uninstall and reinstall them.

It's just little problems like error messages when you try to install the latest version of CPU-Z, although you can install an older version.

Then there's a problem where you can only place one GPU-Z Box on the desktop, But not two (error message again).

HWMonitor?, You can forget trying to get that to work properly and the List goes on and on.

You'll have to install Windows "Evaluation" builds to see for yourself if your particular programs work.

I just went back to 8.1, due to constant bugs with gaming. Mainly, Shadowplay wouldn't work most of the time (red line through the on-screen icon), and either of the newest drivers caused massive hangs when starting up games. This was on all the builds (including 9860 and 9871). If I tried to load GeForce experience, nothing happened. Only a reboot fixed the issue, but only for a while.

I tried nuking everything and installing fresh from the ISO yesterday, but I still had the same problems. So today I restored my system image from 10/7 (which I had made right before upgrading).

I'll probably load it in a VM just to play around some more. When the consumer preview comes out I'll try again on my gaming desktop.

also keep in mind that Windows 10 technical preview includes a keylogger meaning every key, website, password, programs, etc... you use is sent back at microsoft.

Good article there. Many of the articles on this topic were along the lines of, "ZOMG Micro$uck is keyloggerz, and all your passwords are belong to Russia."

It's also worth noting that any search text box (like on Google's home page) where it auto-suggests web sites, is also technically a key logger. They receive every letter that you type, and the suggestions change based on each key pressed. But most people don't think about this part of it.

it is  also wize for you to note that  the reason  we are @  build  9879  currently on windows 10 the  4th tech preview is because of  this so called Key logger and user Feedback .

Please stop posating articles   done on this keylogger as  they auto assume and read between the lines that this  is  MS spying on you for good and it is not   the fact is   everyone who buys in to this  article  reads  between the lines  more then not  and forgets  that this is a Tech preview builds and  it is to help improve the windows they so want

+1 all smooth sailing here too. I'm not getting really crazy with it though since it's just an evaluation copy. Getting used to the set up and where things are (Never installed or used Win 8) I did run the Heaven and Valley benchmarks with it, nothing really extreme in differences....Win 10 does beat Win 7 score wise in both, frame rate wise they are pretty much the same.

FYI,
Next big test build for Windows 10 major press event scheduled - Jan 21st.
Not sure what it's going to cover but rumor has it for gaming (xbox tie-in) on windows 10.
