Hey guys i currently have a X58 SLI 132-BL-E758-A1  im pretty sure its a revision 1.0 but i may be wrong  i literally bought it right after launch....  i was wondering and no much how much i search i cant seem to find the answer.... can a 6 core xeon x5650 work with this board, or does it need that westmere mod?  2nd question... i am the origional owner.... if it needs the MOD will it cost me anything to have the mod done by EVGA...

ive read mixed reports about if it needs the mod or not =)
thanks =)

    If its is revision 1.0, you will need the mod. The revision number will be printed on the motherboard on the bottom left, that is next to the little black drum speaker near the pci slot.

    In terms of having evga perform the mod, it almost seems to be regional in the sense that some places will do it and others will not. Best to call your local evga office about that.

    Evga would charge your $50 for the mod and you would have to pay for shipping, maybe another $10. But you can buy SLI3 or FTW for the same amount. Glad I didn't buy Evga Motherboard for my X99.

    That would only be the case if the board wasn't under warranty, since his board has a lifetime warranty evga should do the mod for free / or give him an updated replacement board (eg. Rev 1.2).

    You are absolutely correct. I called them yesterday and they offered to perform the mod for free since my board is under warranty. I'm happy with that.

    I got my Rev 1.0 done under warranty a few months ago and everything went very smooth.  I shipped the board off and had it back and installed in under 10 days.  I replaced my C0 920 with a 5670 and have been very happy with the upgrade.  It is impressive that a board bought in Jan 2009 is still the core of a pretty relevant system almost 6 years later.

    Any way you could get a clean pic for me of what was done?  I bought my 3 boards and two were 1.1 and one 1.2.  I never registered to get my lifetime warranty since they were all working well since 2010.  So I am out of luck and no money to send $120 to get them mod to eVGA.  So I want to do it myself.

    What exactly are we doing when doing the mod?
    Is it?
    1) Moving the resistor R358 to R359?
    2) Just short the open R359?
    3) Crossing/shorting the solder from R358 to R359?

    I cannot find any clearly stated information on EXACTLY what to do? What exactly is "move R358 to R359 means"?

    Thanks.

    Yeah that's what's on the bench now...and some generic kinda crappy board that don't overclock...stuck at 133mhz on the bus and 1333mhz ram. like 2.9ghz with the x5650...just glad the chip still works...cool. Need to send me a board that can clock the chip though.  Was probably a Server pull Assuming.
