I gotz two Evga 570 hd Video cards. Have an Z75 mobo.  I have one card that runs hotter then the other and wondered do the cards have to be in slots side by side, or can I put one in the first slot and one in the third.  Manual has no info/help.  slots go as 16X  8X 4X.  Would I loose performance going from an X8 to X4?
Thanx guys!

Yes, on your motherboard the cards must be staked side by side. Yes, you would lose performance running the card in a 4x slot, you would also lose the ability to SLI due to running one of the cards in a 4x slot. SLI requires both cards to at least be running in an 8x slot.

Probably thanking Sajin would be better. He's the one who gave the answer. I just confirmed what he said.

The first card will run hotter, it is doing most of the work.
