Im running a 780ti classified oc'd to 1250mhz, a 4790k oc'd to 4.5mhz, 16gb ram and an ssd.

On ultra settings with aa off and ambient occlusion on hbao+ fps is around 60-90fps accasionally going under 60 and then randomly falling down to 35-40 sometimes.

The frame rate drops in this game are horrible and create horrible stutter. The game sometimes stutters even without dropping frames.

Also for some reason i see that some people have the option for nvidea godrays and some dont. In my game nvidea godrays isnt even An option.

Anyone know how to make this game run properly???

I found this info at the weekend about fixing stuttering, haven't tried it myself yet as I don't get stutter on medium settings:-

    goto C:\Users\yourname\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 4\GamerProfile.xml
    and change
    DisableLoadingMip0="0"
    to
    DisableLoadingMip0="1"

How do you open these XMLs properly?

Most game config files are spaced so that everything is in a vertical list. Which is much easier to read. I keep opening these files and its all one giant horizontal line.

Its also annoying that the settings I have selected in game are different than what is in that XML file. So is there a conflict going on there? Or are those settings different for a reason.

I tried it this morning and it dropped vram usage by about 1 GB down from a 2985 peak to a 1975 peak usage. I was only getting an occassional stutter before and I have 4 GB vram but it did seem a little smoother to me. Graphics quality is unchanged and just as good as before. Yeah, the config file is bonkers. It's not like any other config file I've ever seen before.

This fix didnt work for me. Game runs perfect with most things on Ultra at 60fps. Occassional dips to like...45fps. When running at 60fps game sometimes looks like its running at 30 even though the framerate is stable.

doing this drops your textures to medium quality. i found that textures are the culprit of the stutter. anything above medium causes stutter. nothing can be done until they patch the game.

You posted in two forums. One of the two will be locked soon, when a mod catches. Just giving a heads up.

I tried it on low settings  and the game still stutters. Ubisoft is a ****ty PC developer, that is the reason that the game stutters. I am glad that I didn't pay for this piece of crap.

Wait, what? Rockstar releases finished games? What? Rockstar's games are as bad as Ubisoft's.

I think his point was that at least Rockstar try to finish their games irrespective of time, irrespective of their console preference.
At least they make an effort, I can't say I've ever dealt with technical problems with the GTA franchise.
I have however been frustrated at their PC release cycles, but I can appreciate that if the effort is made.

They could be a lot better though, I agree.

If they (Ubilol) were to be PC first, such as 4A Games and CD Projekt RED, none of these console port related issues would exist.

If you increase Pre-Rendered Frames, it helps with the stutter. I'm still using my DS4 Controller, so even at 8 Pre Rendered frames I dont notice the input lag from the controller. (I do notice it with a mouse though.)

Stuttering decreases quite a bit and now i can run the game with everything maxed out except tree relief and God Rays.

    What is tree relief anyway...

Tree relief is that thing that relieves trees. I dont know about you but i dont wanna play a game that has a bunch of stressed out trees. ;)

-where were you able to put pre rendered frames up to 8? That isnt in the game options is it??

Pre Rendered Frames in Nvidia Inspector.

Also, just stopped using FRAPS, and started using Precision X16 to measure framerate, GPU usage, etc. Stuttering is now pretty much gone. I play with Vsync and triple buffer. Silky smooth for the most part. Occassional stutter but isnt tied to anything special happening on screen.

I doubt Fraps was causing the issue, but whatever. Ill take it. It seems like when I finally fix one issue, another pops up until both start happening.

I just checked, pre-rendered frames being increased does not help. The problem is that the game suddenly drops from 80fps to 45ish... Causing a stutter. It's not a very well optimized game.

Edit: Nevermind, I just locked frames per second to 30 and it STILL STUTTERS. The game is (Deleted for foul language).

Yup... Even if you lock your frames below your lowest fps drop, you still get fps drops.
this game is truly (Deleted for Foul Language)

The only way im able to play it is on nedium textures, even though on geforce.com it sais with my card i can put everything on ultra.

Smh. We need more exclusive AAA content on pc! Cuz this is such bull!

I'm not getting this stuttering everyone is talking about. Running fine at 4k resolution with everything at ultra except I put post FX to low because I hate post processing, also have the Nvidia specific features enabled. I also have AA disabled since I'm playing at 4k, I also went into the .xml file to disable mouse acceleration, smoothing, and disabled ATOC since you can't see a difference with it enabled or disabled. I run a 5930K OC'd to 4.5Ghz, 16gb ram, raid SSD, SLI 980 SC cards, using 344.75 drivers. I have v-sync enabled and 90% of the time it runs smooth at 60fps, the lowest I've seen it go is 51fps when there is a lot of (Deleted for Foul Language) going on. The game just came out, it will run better when more patches are released.

With that rig, you shouldnt even be seeing 80fps minimums. lol.

Im working on the stuttering. Trying various performance tweaks and such. There is a CPU Affinity fix, that gets like...20fps boost by letting Far Cry 4 use all cores.

Link to this affinity fix? If this is true then it can help me get 60fps at all times instead of 90% of the time at 4k.

Here is a guide on how to do it.

It doesnt mention Far Cry 4 in this article, I dont think, but it was linked to as an answer to how to set CPU Affinity.

Edit: I have not tried this fix yet. I also don't know if Far Cry 4 is even CPU heavy. The stutter is more than likely a GPU issue.

Far Cry 4 uses 100 % of CPU core 3.

I have v-sync enabled and 90% of the time it runs smooth at 60fps, the lowest I've seen it go is 51fps when there is a lot of (Deleted for "Quoting" Foul Language) going on.

Can you link to where you said that this affinity fix gets ~20fps boost for Far Cry 4? You linked an article on how to set a shortcut to run specific affinity setting for a program, but nothing that reports on its effects for Far Cry 4.

It was just on reddit somewhere for performance issues. Thought I would give it a try. It makes sense that it would help.

Yes, Far Cry 4 uses 100% of Core 3, but does it use any of the Virtual Cores? Does it use Core 2? Core 4?

Upgrade to windows 8.1 and im not even joking. Windows 8.1 has better CPU utilization. Also V-Sync made me have a stutter once so I always leave it disabled and let the card max out the frames that it is able to.
