I think a bit of silver on the rings breaks up the red just a little bit to add more depth.

I experimented with heating, bending, and cutting the tubing. I found out I need a bench vise so guess what I got? These pics were before that though so the end of the cut looks rough. At least I got to play with it for a bit.

Odd, it shows in my browser. Let me take a look in a different one and see if they show up there.

Edit: all pics are visible in IE and Firefox so IDK what the problem might be.

Suggest switching to IE, as that browser works the best for seeing pics in this forum.

I'm still waiting on parts which are slow getting here with delays in delivery with Fedex right now. In the meantime I was playing around adding the skin on the pump to the radiator as well. I'm not sure if I'll keep it there so if anyone has an opinion to offer let me know. Anyway, a small update:

Just some updated pics. After some delays I got things moving along and wrapped the inside if the case and the radiator in black carbon fiber vinyl. I got the mb and cpu water block mount installed as well as the last row of fans for the radiator. I was playing around with some leds also.

I've still got a long ways to go but here's some progress:

Thanks and you already got a +1 from me.

Baby steps on updates today. I installed the cpu and cpu water block, removed the previous red wrap from the pump, and re-wrapped it in black carbon fiber to match everything else. After that I just mounted the reservoir and pump and the PSU.

Re: Build log Corsair 900D and acrylic tubing 2015/01/01 14:04:03 (permalink)
So here's something interesting I noticed after I started working on the tubing...the mandrel templates have holes in them to screw them down in place to give a sturdy base and orientation when bending and that is very helpful. I was just working on test pieces today and hopefully will finish tomorrow, at least enough to do a leak test.

So, on to the pics!
Setting up the template, test pieces, and the final test piece in place.

Re: Build log Corsair 900D and acrylic tubing 2015/01/10 16:03:01 (permalink)
So it turns out, and I should have foreseen this, that the Primochill reservoir I'm using has the ports on the back side of the caps making it damn near impossible to get the tubing bent as needed since they sit almost flush with the back of the case. After many frustrations, wasted tubing on aborted bends, I just went ahead and got a couple of the bitspower double 90 degree fittings to solve the problem.

Of course, that meant I had to flip the cpu water block around, shorten my previous tubing from the cpu block to the radiator, and then finally get started on seeing how the tubing would fit. I only did that and one more section of tubing today, tomorrow I hope to finish now that I've got a handle on how to get this done. Anyway, an update on the pics and I"m still thinking of shortening this tube length coming down from the radiator to the cpu, and most likely will tomorrow so let me know your thoughts on how it looks so far.

Thanks and I think you'd like it a lot better. It's a lot easier to maintain even if it's a little bit of a learning curve doing the rigid tubing at first. There are still some things I'd like to change and it's quick to do so now that I know how, but right now I'm just enjoying my rig being up and running.

I'm glad you changed the rad and pump from red. The contrast of the reservoir and the red on the fans look much better that way I think. You sure ended up with a great looking build. I definitely like the look of the acrylic tube. Nice job man!!

Thanks! The mandrel kit was essential to getting good bends, for me at least.

Heh, that's for sure. I wonder now though if I shouldn't have used clear tubing and red dye in the coolant. Oh well, maybe next time.
