Oooooo now this is interesting! I wonder if they will go back to solder rather than sticking with thermal paste under the cpu lid?

    My Laptop (GE63VR-7RF):
    -7700HQ.
    -16GB RAM.
    -GTX 1070.
    -128GB SSD.
    -1X 1TB 7200 spinny drive.

I don't think the Atom chip is long for this world.  Supposedly the m chip will be put in Tablets, as well

I don't know how anyone here looks forward to Skylake; Intel won't cannibalize Broadwell-K too soon after being so late, therefore Skylake-K isn't coming in 2015.  I'll bet Skylake-S high-end i7-5700 parts will debut at a lower frequency than even Devil's Canyon, to keep our attention on Broadwell-K until they can isolate us to the high-end platform where AMD has no interest in.  Skylake is possibly faster than anything AMD has overclocked, there is no need to unlock mainstream anymore.

Every single market segment can be broken down by the price people will spend for stuff, Tablets are no different.  "Core" branded tablets will always be higher-end models while Atom will be used in lower-end models, including attempts at phones.  Regular and average folks are not like enthusiasts, they do mind spend more; so tablets like any PC form factor has to be sold with price/choice flexibility in mind.

In other words, Atom will hang around as long as Pentium has, for decades.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].
