I've decided to choose http://numberfields.asu.edu/NumberFields/ for the POTM for December.  This project certainly isn't the sexiest of projects but has been a reliable runner for me for some time.  Very few people on our team have run the project so with a few more threads the team could move up fairly easily.  I believe it is now part of the Vault.  The work units average run time has increased as the subfields have advanced.  On my 2700k, running 8 threads, stock, the average time is 5-6 hour.  Several are taking as long as 14. Some will only take a couple of seconds.  I like the project as the tasks run awhile.  I don't have to pay much attention as it simply chugs along. And the project as it is running now has a definite ending.  They are subfields being processed are a bit over half way complete.  So give a few threads a try and see if it's to your liking.

As for challenges I will be running the last two PG ones for this years challenge series.  There is a one day SGS-LLR and a three day PPS-Sieve.

I will move all my Rigs over once the 2014 TZC is over.
I do not have that far to go for a new Badge so I an Game.
I can run part of my CPU for this as well during the TZC as well.

No kidding, I was worried when my first 7 got 0.01 points each for fractional second runtimes.  Luckily the next ones to finish gave more points and I got my first badge.

Yeah really weird tasks.  My first batch finished instantly for the same 0.01 points!  I've got some more running that are taking about 5 hours on my x79 but the percentages seem a little screwy.  I'm sticking with it though and will run it on my 3930k since that's the only thing not folding right now for the TZC.

The work generator divides the search space into even chunks but there isn't an easy way to determine how long each work unit will take without running them.  This is from a post in the Number Crunching forum section titled 2 second tasks.

Nice to see you all giving them a try.

I guess BOINC must "Learn" time calculations.
The upper one has showed 84,554% all day, while they all started at 16%.
    Interesting
Temps are cool though, mid 70c together with a gpu grinding GPUGRID.

Grandpa_01 had noticed that AMD's put out work units faster but Intels still scored better. I was wondering if any of you had the same experience. http://numberfields.asu.edu/NumberFields/forum_thread.php?id=209

That is ok, we still have almost 2 weeks left this month.
I may even see the Blue Badge  this go around.
