I will run under the Team Mining@EVGA under CrunchForCoin
I am going to run them on my Windows XP Weather Station Computer x86.
PS Do you want me to Open the Team Up for New Users?

You might need two separate cgminers, this one looks like it is tailored to BCU.  I'll look into it, I'll be starting with it in a day... also make sure you have the right driver for windows.

http://www.eyeboot.com/drivers

The Zadig drivers are the one you want... follow the online instructions.

preferencesWell Guess What?
I remove all the files and put only a cc_config.xml in the below folders (Not Sure Where It Needs To Go)
C:\Program Files\BOINC
C:\ProgramData\BOINC
C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\www.bitcoinutopia.net_bitcoinutopia ONLT HERE IT WILL NOT WORK!!!

And I am Running on BOINC Manager 7.4.27 (x64)

Thank you Cruncher Pete [BlackOpsTeam]

My cc_config.xml Remember that this is for only ONE BOX

<cc_config>
<options>
<coproc>
<type>miner_asic</type>
<count>1</count>
</coproc>
</options>
</cc_config>

I set up a preferences Work for a Bitcoin Utopia preferences

Takes form 15 to 20 minutes per task. Not bad for 1,200,000.00 Points too!

Yeah, not the easiest setup at all. That driver pack that eyeboot gives out is a lifesaver.

cc_config.xml goes in the data directory that you set on install.

Default directories are:
Windows 98/SE/ME: C:\Windows\All Users\BOINC or C:\Windows\Profiles\All Users\BOINC\
Windows 2000/XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\ (*)
Windows Vista/Windows 7/8/8.1: C:\ProgramData\BOINC\ (*)
Macintosh OS X: /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/

I'm planing on ordering an antminer S4 tomorrow, 2TH/s, those work on BOINC?  lol.. nah, I'm actually going to try and make some real money in da coin game. At least enough to pay for my electricity on a monthly basis, can't go wrong with that.

Well it would have been much easer had they say that the cc_config.xml file goes in the C:\ProgramData\BOINC\ Folder and NOT the Project Folder like C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\www.bitcoinutopia.net_bitcoinutopia
Now where on their Forum dose it say that, that I could find.
Your Post here did not say where did it?
Windows XP Time is only 15 to 20 minutes as well, some Tasks to run longer than others. UPDATED

I had the hardest time finding the information on their site too, their support faq can cause more headaches than help.

Ya, I didn't specify where the data folder is or where cc_config went, I'll have to update the main post with all this useful information later.

You had issues under XP? That's what I am running mine on, I did find it was harder to get some things configured, but right now it's solo mining @350Mhz reporting 150 GH/s.. max I ever got in a pool was 122 GH/s. Also couldn't get multiminer to open, which is a great GUI version that can run opencl mining, cg miners, asics, and connect to network miners supposedly. I ran multiminer on my 780 SC to test it out and got 380 MH/s which is more than i was getting with guiminer/cgminer. But that still pales in comparison to the asics.

lol, and I better file taxes! you have no idea how strict they have actually made the currency exchanges now. You need to upload photo id and everything, verify your social, verify bank, verify phone, they aren't F-ing around anymore. It's going legit.

Re: ASIC Miners and Bitcoin Utopia in BOINC 2014/11/25 06:06:02 (permalink)
Why is the setup so difficult? I know their how to's are poorly organized, but all I did was use one of the newer clients (last ran it was 7.4.27) and use a cc_config.xml file that included the

<coproc>
<type>miner_asic</type>
<count>1</count>
</coproc>

Then I installed the Zadig drivers as instructed. Everything worked fine. That was with one miner on the rig. Some people will tell you it is better to run all miners on the same work unit and some will tell you to run separate work units. My logic says if you are using a lot of those little USB ASICs to run separate work units because if some of them finish their portion of the block chain, they will sit idle while the rest finish up their portions. Maximizing would mean let them take longer on their individual work units. Just make sure they are finishing on time.

I will also note that the miner I had ran fine with bfgminer when testing outside of BU but wasn't as happy inside of it. So definitely try a few different options with the work unit choices.

Edit: I also haven't tried it in about a month, but earlier server software/clients required that you have the use CPU box checked in your BU website preferences and you also had to make sure that your computer was not running as a service because the clients were still looking at the ASICs as if they were GPU's. So, it is a double edged sword sometimes. I also had to keep suspending work in order to keep BU fed. So, this certainly works better on dedicated miners or people messing with multiple clients on the same box.

Edit2: In case someone else still hasn't dipped their toes into cc_config.xml files yet for BOINC, here is an example of the one on the referenced laptop that was last running a miner for me.

<cc_config>
<options>
<http_1_0>1</http_1_0>
<report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>
<coproc>
<type>miner_asic</type>
<count>1</count>
</coproc>
</options>
</cc_config>

On a side note, I did get the box up and running (recognized) by WIN7, downloaded the miners and all that good stuff.  Set up BOINC but I guess I need to finish the .xml and get a wallet?

That is my confusion to the statement. The coins mined never go to you in the first place. So, no wallet, no record of the coins that you donated. Just points from the DC work. It also can't be claimed as a donation because they are commercial. The donation is on their end and so since you are mining a pool under their name, they take care of tax work. So, that is why I asked about the taxes comment....

devlin said he was going to try to make some "real money" with the antminer (post #46), and that's why bcav said "don't forget the taxes" (post #47).

Why is the setup so difficult? I know their how to's are poorly organized, but all I did was use one of the newer clients (last ran it was 7.4.27) and use a cc_config.xml file that included the

<coproc>
<type>miner_asic</type>
<count>1</count>
</coproc>

<cc_config>
<options>
<http_1_0>1</http_1_0>
<report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>
<coproc>
<type>miner_asic</type>
<count>1</count>
</coproc>
</options>
</cc_config>

That is what I ended up doing as well, BUT NO WERE ON THEIR SITE TO THEY TELL YOU THIS. That is the problem!
This is my cc_config.xml file and it goes in this Folder: C:\ProgramData\BOINC\
<cc_config>
<options>
<coproc>
<type>miner_asic</type>
<count>1</count>
</coproc>
</options>
</cc_config>

And the beast has been ordered! (Amazon) Ending up finalizing on this one after the prices matched the cheaper ones on the market coming out of Israel (which there are some monsters at lower gh/s per watt too).. But they don't have a built in 1400 watt gold rated psu built in like the antminers, completely wiping out the lower price when you need to buy one or even 2 cheaper lower watt ones.. and bank transfer to the czech republic you say.. hmm.. no thanks!  Going with the antminer sold on amazon!!

$1200.00 is way out of my budget, but then you are Mining For Coin so maybe after a year or so you may have paid the Cost of this Beast.
I still think that the Virus issue needs to be re-reviewed.
