Interesting. I am thinking FireStrike weighs a significant amount of its score on RAM speed, at least compared to 3DMark11. I have seen a few rigs now with very similar specs except for mem speed, and those with the higher mem speed (on the board, not the GPU) are getting significantly higher FireStrike scores, yet the 3DMark11 scores are very close. I'm talking like 1600 or 1866MHz ram, compared to say 2400+MHz. Dammit! lol

Thank you, Thats my 24/7 overclock! And I'm going to order the last water cooling components next month so I can wrap this up and finish this build once and for all.. Then I'm going to upload a lot more benchmarking scores and pictures! 

Update : 4.8 Ghz at 1.36v!

Is it normal that my 3930k require K-Boost to be enabled at over 4.5 GHz? I'm running 4.8 GHz as a 24/7 and if I disable K-Boost windows won't start. I can get in to bios but that's pretty much it, But if I enable K-Boost again everything works fine again.. Normal?

Are you running an "offset" or "fixed" Vcore voltage?
 
If you're using an offset, then I could see needing k-boost enabled at such a high OC because you start with a low vcore.
 
If you're using a fixed vcore, then I believe it's more of a hit or miss as far as needing k-boost or not depending on each individual chip.
 
That is my theroy anyway...

I do use fixed volt since I've got the extended warranty on the 3930k so it doesn't really matter if it'll degree faster or not but I doubt it since max vcore is 1.448 at 100 % load.. And If I use offset It will fail on me in 1 out of 10 situations but if I use fixed it's rock solid. I do need K-Boost so i believe it's just the chip lottery as you said :)

EVGA X79sli and Dark are both great MB's
 
X79sli is going on 3 years strong now. Dark running strong as well.

I agree, there are some things evga could have done better on the x79 dark but over all it's a good board! 9/10 would buy again!

changing from the dark to a R4BE since my 3930k handles 2666mhz ram and the Dark doesn't.. going to se if the IMC is capable of 2800 mhz maybe o.O

I'm not sure I follow this??  Why do you think the Dark doesn't support 2666MHz ram, but the ASUS board does??
