I feel like I just wasted 60 bucks.  Seriously there should be a giant warning before purchasing a PC game that it is capped at 30 FPS.  I'm sure it may be a wonderful game, but I can't even bother with it right now.  This is straight up console garbage.  Hopefully there is a fix to remove the FPS cap soon.

Thanks I will give this a try.  It still seems awful to have to deal with this for a PC game.  To be honest I get disappointed when games are locked at 60 fps, but at least that is tolerable.

This was the developers fault for the caps. They stated the reason why they did this:

This is a sad, dark future for PC gaming if developers think 30 fps and a 2:35:1 aspect ratio is the optimal way to play a game.  I guess the problem is I just got done playing Alien Isolation, which runs flawlessly at 120 fps at full screen.  To have to go over to this is just awful, even with the frame rate unlocked to 60 it still feels choppy and like I'm playing at 30 fps.  I wonder how much money Bethesda got paid by Sony and Microsoft to produce this awful PC version...

Anything under about 38fps I cant stand. It just gets too choppy and too many other issues to play it. These moron dev houses better remove there heads from there dark holes or theirs gonna be alot of really rich indie devs with kickstarter campaign!! lol

Okay after using the R_swapinterval -1 command to unlock it to 60 FPS, I also found the website http://www.flawlesswidescreen.org/ to fix the stupid aspect ratio.  I would finally say the game is tolerable to play now.  It's still aggravating that this couldn't be adjusted in the graphics settings.

I will play through the game later and let you guys know what I think of it.

Apparently they just released a patch recently for this game which gives you the option to switch the FPS to 60 and remove the weird aspect ratio.  Perhaps they finally realized that the average PC gamer doesn't consider 30 fps and a 2.35:1 aspect ratio a "cinematic experience".

I'm on chapter 14 of the game right now, and I've found it be a very challenging yet entertaining game.  Now that they've patched the game, I'd definitely recommend it.

So, I just played the demo on Steam. I ended up dropping 4hrs into it. Mainly on the 3rd chapter. First 2 was cake. Is it me or is it very hard? I was bound and determined to beat the chainsaw dude. I was only playing on medium. It seems like you have to be extremely patient with this game. Stealth, search and SEARCH some more! Every bullet counts in this game it seems!

Yeah this game has been very difficult, the first two chapters were more of a tutorial to let you get a feel of the game.  I've probably died around 100 times by now.  Ammo conservation is key in this game because you basically need to save all of your ammo for the larger enemies/bosses.  The main things I spent my upgrades on were increased ammo stockpiles and the longer sprint ability (running out of breath trying to avoid an enemy is the worst thing that can happen to you in my opinion).

I watched a buddy play this game on XBOX 360. I thought the plot was entertaining. Chapter 15 was pretty interesting and definitely entertaining. They left it open at the end, so there might be another.

Alien Isolation is pretty darn good. That's a game that is well optimized for PC. I recommend it to anyone.
