It was suggested that this month we focus on a project a little less crunched or not as "mainstream."  So in the name of trying something a little different, I have decided to have one last hurrah for boincSIMAP.  After 10 years on the BOINC platform, the SIMAP project as we know it will be over at the end of this year.  The tasks are short and sweet, CPU only, so this month let's try to give it one last push to solidify a high spot in the rankings for crunching@evga.

Also, don't forget to divert some resources for other events going on this month:
The PrimeGrid Leonids Challenge (321 LLR) takes place Nov 19 18:00 UTC - Nov24 18:00 UTC.

The GPUGrid Crunchathlon from Nov 7 21:00 UTC - Nov 11 21:00 UTC.

As the weather begins to cool lets crank up those rigs!

You have spoken chosen one... boincSIMAP it is.

Let the Crunch begin on Nov.1, 2014.  May the gods have mercy on the SIMAP.

Cool, one I haven't done yet! Remaining work on Server 46 days, let's wipe it out!

Just registered on boincSIMAP, never did those. Looking forward to it though.
Hope we don't dry them out all of a sudden.

Also looking forward to The Leonid Challenge
This is within  PrimeGrid's Challenge series, and so far this year, we have a nice grip on 6th place over all.

Then there is the CRUNCHATHLON GPUGRID [MONTHLY RUN - RACE III]
Because of my passion for GPU's, I tend to have a special interest in this one.
This is a challenge we haven't participated in, atleast not in my time here.
I did a small research around this challenge history, and saw what other team's was participating, and their production.
If we put in some efforts here, I think some of the biggest teams is in for a surprise.
However, one thing though, if I read the numbers right, some participants tend to throw in huge bunkers at day one.
    I say please don't.
I'm more comfortable with a clean mid position, than a dirty top.
Bunkering show's up pretty clear in the Stats pages, and after a quick study, the winner was all of a sudden not a winner after all, atleast not in my book.
I'm not aiming at top position here, I'm first of all looking forward to a fun race, especially with [H]ard OCP.

They won't even know what hit 'em.

I have been watching the server status for a bit.  The "days worth of tasks remaining" has actually been going up.  They are not shutting it down completely, just moving to in-house computing power instead of boinc, so hopefully they will be able to keep up with the onslaught.

I don't think many of our guys are interested in hitting SIMAP at this point. I was hitting it until I got my goal. GPUGrid... we might do if I rally the guys, but Eagle07 can pretty well drain them most days if he runs full bore with his Teslas. That is becoming more of a problem with that project. So, he usually runs multi project now to keep them fed. There is also a SAT challenge in a few days, but I'm to the point where I just join us up and let everyone decide whether to jump in. We keep a challenges thread stickied now to help simplify things. Oh... and don't forget the WCG challenge that WCG has been hyping to celebrate their 10th birthday as well. I think you will more than likely see us active there.

Unlike last month when the POTM was also the focus of a contest, you don't have to go all in on this one.  It's just serves as a suggestion to allocate some resources and produce more than you normally would.

Thx ope, added two i7's, and will add more for the show.
However, I'm hunting some "Crunching for XXX day's" at POGS, so splitting up some.

Unless that´s a trophy I havent seen yet...
The "evolution of a star" trophies are awarded not by actual runtime, but membership time...., so no active crunching is required

Just finishing up all these pogs tasks, set to no new tasks. Once they all finish up hoping simap will just take over as its not suspended and allowed to get new tasks. Also, finally figure out where/how to get a sig.

Here is where to get the BOINC sig like I have. Register and you can set it up the way you like.

Well I meant that I finally did get one set up, don't know what these little trophies mean but eh, I like shiny things. Took a little messing around but finally got SIMAP running, for some reason update didn't pull any tasks right away, after I got registered and the settings done, was about 5 hours till update actually pulled tasks for me.

pogs gives a nice descriptio for each trophy.
Just go to your dashboeard and from there to "my tropies" and you´ll get to see them all with an explanation.
Most other projects just hand them out for credits achieved. wcg gives them out for runtime

    Hi, Gents!

Good to see your fine crew active here.  My team recently made this a point of emphasis too.  Not long ago making it inside the top 200 was a pretty good accomplishment for us, now we're knocking on the door of 100.

Stealing from this morning's update at Free-DC:

    Team Total                Credit
    ================================
    utg                      655,163
    Planet 3DNow!            282,833
    SETI.USA                 276,260
    TSC! Russia              179,459
    SETI.Germany             134,174
    Christians                82,336
    BOINCstats                68,525
    Crunching@EVGA            68,412
    Sicituradastra.           61,559
    L'Alliance Francophone    44,174

We're running slightly ahead of you in the update (14,000 on this one), but well behind in the overall. That plus our two teams blasting through the remaining work is a good formula for you guys remaining ahead. Plus, I get the distinct feeling that your daily numbers still have a lot of climbing to do as people switch over from your previous focus.

In my experience, these units run cool and quick.  Android devices can also get in on the action.  Have fun draining the supply!

None of us is as strong as all of us.

Hey, All!    Thanks for all the greetings!  I saw planetclown said hi, so I was going to write a response back to him. But there are a few more names I remember who also say hi.  I'm surprised ya'll remember me, but it goes to show what a good crew you have here!

I don't do much posting, I do read from time to time.  You guys seem to have things well in hand - not that you ever really needed much input from me to begin with.  A new job and the little 1 year old keep me busy when I'm not sleeping.  Life is good...I just wish I had more time to keep up with crunching.  And more budget for it too!  But the desire to put away WUs and speed up research keeps me going with what I got.  Together, we can knock out some serious work!

Hey, Incognito II.  Yes, we are operating under Sheep power now!  I was given the challenge to "find a bigger 'bully'" since Pecos was taking up so much of the team pie.  I figured, why play a Jack when I think I can draw an Ace?    And Sheep was good enough to play along.

Keep up the good crunching.  It's been great to see the increased activity on this side.

None of us is as strong as all of us.
