Hey all the 970 owners,

Have you guys experienced any coil whine issues with your card?

My card whines while gaming, it whines depending on the game.
It's kinda annoying. Does EVGA have support over this or does this come under warranty?

Any help will be appreciated.

I suggest you try and burn in the card first before RMA'ing it. Leave the card running for 36 hours straight in one spot in a game or benchmark where the coil whine is at it's worst (loudest), make sure to have the fans pumping @ 100% when you do this, after 36 hours the coil whine should be gone. If it's not gone after stressing the card for 36 hours straight RMA it.

Put your ear to the PC, and make sure it's not the Power Supply doing that.

sounds like a legit solution. burning 36 hours? are you sure? sounds pretty crazy.

The burn-in solution is baloney. I would check the PSU to make sure it isn't the PSU before RMA'ing the graphics card. I had a PSU that whined only when I put 680 or above in it.

Yep, I've done it before on one of my GPU's.

It's far from baloney my friend.

If you have a girlfriend whining, theres not much you can do. Find the topic where she whines the loudest and then let her burn in overnight. But make sure the room is well-ventilated.

Done it too but for 4 hours...then I decided to play games and forget about the whine.
A week later the whine is almost completely gone where early october it was like a new born banshee crying for her mother...
The burn-in solution works but the result will vary from cards to cards.
