I have a Dell XPS8700 PU 450W and a Nvidia 645 OEM. For me it is obvious I need a better card. I will change out the Power unit to as much as the MoBo can handle but one thing I can not change is the single PCi slot. My gaming is limited to Aerial combat and such. What I need to know is what will work for me.

The only thing that i can see that will accomidate a single slot in the NVIDIA line is the 745,
And by the specs, I dont think that will be an upgrade from what you already have.

You should list your hardware, there are a few variants even though you stated XPS 8700. I was seeing a 660 listed as an upgrade option. Looking at the 660 it is 9.5 inches long. The 660 I was looking at took one PCIx 6 pin connector. You could go with a 970 with a PSU upgrade or look in the 700's being careful of length. The 970 is 9.5 in length but will need a PSU upgrade.  If your thinking of upgrading the PSU, I would try to determine if the PSU is proprietary to the motherboard. If not that makes it a lot easier. You should measure inside your case to see what length card you can sneak in. Hope that helps.
